Is this normal?
I can only feel this virbration during idle. I can also feel a vibration with the same frequency by touching the area under the front fender. Also, when the engine is idling, it is not rock solid stable. It seems to vibrate slightly.
Since I am very very sensitive to these things, I am wondering if this is really something new or my mind has just latched onto it and I can't stop noticing it. I already checked the oil level and it is not been overfilled.
This is driving me crazy
, and since I am embarking on a 800 mile round trip to AZ on Friday, I want to make sure there is nothing wrong with the drivetrain. Maybe I am going crazy!
Any suggestions/feedback on this matter would be appreciated! Should I stop by the dealer to have it checked? I emailed the SA and he was somewhat dismissive and said everything is ok unless some warning light comes on.
The car currently has 3900 miles on it.

Some dealers are not wise enough to identify this.

Also 5w-40 is fine. AMG changed their recommendation for oil from 0w-40 to 0w-40 or 5w-40. Both of my local dealers only carry 5w-40 now. I have been running it in my car with no issues.

BTW idle RPM at 600 is normal after the initial warm-up above 1k it drops to around 5-600 unless it's really move or bouncing, but it doesn't sound like it

). It doent cost much in the gulf, I dont know about the US MB dealers, but I replaced mine and it solved the problem.Another reason, which I doubt in your case, is a weak throttle, which can be identified instantly through a DAS.
Or it could be a problem with the alternator, which can also be identified through an electric diagnosis.
Anyhow, take it to the dealer, and see what they say about it.
P.s., if thier computer doesnt read anything, then just replace the control valve and hopefully the problem will be solved
The engine idles at 217F when it's 64F outside. Does this sound normal? I let the car sit in idle for 5-10 mins.
Also, the vibrations I mentioned above peak when I rev the engine to around 800 RPM and then either go away or is drowned by the loud engine.

I read his topic from my phone, didn't see the picture since it was not in the original post, and replied with a suggestion based on my previous experience working on cars over the years.

I wish my mind had not latched onto this slight grinding/vibration at around 800rpm. Now I can't help but notice it every time I get in the car!
It was a misunderstanding and an incorrect assumption on AMGFTW's part.
IMO, GHAZAN made a valid point--I thought the same thing. Of course, from AMGFTW's perspective, whether GHAZAN made a good point was moot, because without him having seen the picture, he figured GHAZAN was being abrasive, which he wasn't, IMO.
Mods, please give us some credit. Of course, if these are the rules, then my opinion is moot.
Calling someone d,ckweed is not that offensive IMO.
This just reminds me of a teacher stepping in when to little boys have wrds.
C'mon mods we're all grown men here, I think this could have been handled between them, no need to step in.
So touchy here, jeez--time to go drink some boost
We are all grown men here. I made a mistake and didn't need some e-warrior looking to boost his online ego by trying to make me look like a fool.
And Ghazan no need to PM me after reporting my post getting me an infraction rubbing it in my face. Just so everyone can see how idiotic you are this is the exact PM I got from him:
Title: sucka

maybe you have an app for that haha
The M1 0w40 is what the factory uses for AMGs (regular Mercedes get a Shell believe it or not).
Every Porsche leaves factory with 0w40 Mobil 1 even most race Porsches.
0w40 Mobil 1 goes BEYOND Mercedes requirements because it meets so many major manufacturer specs. The 5w40 Formula M is more tailored to just squeak by the Mercedes specs.
I take in the 0w40 myself. Probably more significant to do so if you take your oil to the full 10,000 a year.
