VIDS * Friday the 13 at Mont-Tremblant race track for MHP C63
Ok so everyone must think, who goes to a race track on Friday the 13? Well I do, and apparently a whole bunch of people too!
This spring and winter I did a lot of modifications to the car to improve its track performance. Last summer the brakes were fading and pads toasting, tires not gripping enough and I wasn't able to put the power down. So overall, the car was ok on the track but not great.
Well this year things have changed!
Previous mods:
- MB arts strut bar
- KW V3
- Evosport rotors
- Brigestone Potenza RE-11 (245/18 and 165/18)
- Stainless steel brake lines
- CLK 63 black series pads
- evosport titanium shims in front
New mods:
- OS Giken LSD
- MHP V3 tune
- Forgestar F14 wheels (18")
- Nitto NT01 (245/18 and 275/18)
- Hawk DTC 70 front and Raybestos St-43 back
Well I must say the car is night and day on the track. The differential is amazing exiting out of corners, the power increase is great, I love the Nitto NT01, and the pad combination is killer, no fade at all.
The only small issues I have is that the tires are slightly rubbing in the back (sometimes) and that the AMG brakes in front are now goldish instead of silver (a lot of heat). I don't really mind the look!
Enjoy my first videos the season taken at Mont-Tremblant, great track with great people too:

I love the video! what model Porsche is on the first video? it seems very fast. It looks to me like a 996 or 997 model . Anyways, thanks or sharing and yes, it is a nice track.

Your car looks awesome Chief!
Love the wheels and grill.
I was at Mt Tremblant for the AMG event last October. That track is incredible and very addicting

BTW this event was organized by Viper Club North America. If some of you like Dodge Vipers they had a few SRT10s, pretty impressive!
Aside from that it was car heaven. Nissan GTR, R8, tons of Gt3s and GT3RS, M3, M6, lotus Elises with 300HP, vettes Z06, vipers, you name it! Everything except ferraris (too cool for us lol).
take care

Nice Videos! Clean racing line and compliments to you on your track etiquette but thanking those to whole aside for you. I am always amazed how many people do not thank you when you pull off the racing line to let them through. Nice to see someone making some turns on the fourm here.

Great vids and driving!!
Gotta love the fact that we can pass about anything out there that isn't a full blown race car!
We will be at Road Atlanta in a few weeks, can't wait!!

Awesome videos! Great driving.
Are your KW V3's set to the lowest setting?

Nice looks like she handles quite a bit better than the one Clarkson had out there for its top gear debut.
Very Cool!! I love the camera angle, how/where did you mount it?
Awesome!
Next time put up a posting, as there are a few Montreal AMG's that would attend.

Damn long weekend. Please keep me posted on future events, as I'm searching for a good track event at either Shannonville or Tremblant. It'd be great to see a few AMG's out there so I know how slow I am.

Very well done and great vids. Looks like you had a blast. Nice to hear your mods are working well for you and the brakes are better. Are you running the AMG front rotors or the Evosport? I have seen pics of them turning a goldish colour and they do look cool as long as they still work well.
Brings back good memories of lapping there last fall with the MB Driving Academy.

The calipers now kinda look like the 10 000$ Brembo kit evosport was selling lol

Yes Brad the pads are great. They can really handle the heat, unlike the stock or black series pads. One important thing to mention is that they will burn and stink on your first session. Smoke was coming out after 2 slow laps. THIS IS NORMAL. Everything got back to normal after that so have no worries. It's definitely good to know!
So you liked the pads?!?!? Awesome to hear that the car is performing closer to your goal!
