New owner, 2009 model year, what to do?

The title is pretty much self explanatory. I just picked up a 2009 C63 CPO with 17,000 on the clock.

I've got the bling bling under control. The question is, what performance mods are the usual recommended and who makes the ones generally regarded as class performers?

Intake?
Headers?
Exhaust?
ECU Tune?

I'm a BMW guy with a smattering of Porsche knowledge. New to MB and looking for some pointers. The car will not be raced so I'm not that interested in chasing the very last horsepower regardless of cost. I just want to know where the car has a weakness that can be improved upon.

I appreciate any help and I tried searching, just didn't find a hit list to go through.

^^^ Jim,

Congrats on your 09' C63, mine is a 09' as well.. As far is the mods, well, the C63 doesn't go well with long tube headers without tune.

Plan on doing the headers and tune at the same time or just do the tune. The long tube headers unleashes huge power and torque on this engine but it alters the Air to fuel ratios significantly making it "unsafe" or "dangerous".

As per air filters the most popular are the BMC, K&N and pipercross. Cat backs offer "OK" gains but are very expensive. The tunes are the best deals on these cars because you are basically making the real power that this engine was designed for.

What 911 C2 do you have? 964?, 993?, 997? I had a 911 (964) Carrera 4 Cabriolet a long time a go and loved it, I purchased it used in 2000.

I also see that you have a 911 TT. what is it? a 993? 996? 997? I have a co-worker with a 996 and the X50 package but I personally prefer the 993 or 997.

What color and options? I turned mine in with that many miles.

I have a 1997 993 Vert, silver over black and a 996 TT Vert, also silver over black. Lots and lots of restoration on the 993. Its pretty much as it left the showroom. All the way up to and including replacing the carpeting and doing a full leather retrofit. The 996TT is getting new clutch, turbos, intercoolers, short shift kit, intake hard piping back to the intercoolers with plenum and oversize throttle body. I basically bought the C63 so I would have a performance car to commute in while the TT is getting upgraded as I don't want to pile the miles on the 993.

In the meantime, I found I really like the W204. My wife bought a 2009 C300 2 weeks ago which is what led me to going back to get one for me.

Its Steel Grey over black. I can't put my hands on the option list quickly. But its the premium package with real leather and has a rear sunshade. Other than that, seems to be like most of the cars on the lot. Not sure I like the black wood trim. That might have to go.

Ok, I'll start looking at headers and a tune. ACG is down the street from me. That's probably where I'll do both.

I already did some cosmetics with CF and will get Don Nguyen to do some more work in 2 weeks on wraps, etc. Just ordered up a set of HREs that will take 5-6 weeks.

Fun times. Assuming SWMBO doesn't kill me for this....

Thanks. Not mine. I only ask because whoever has mine may not know that they got a free K1 with it!!!

I always seem to do the suspension first and the power mods last. Besides the power mods could void your warranty on some very expensive parts while the suspension mods could only cause warranty issues with suspension parts which are cheap compared to driveline parts.

Then my plan to drop the car off tomorrow to take the heads off to have Weistec port them and reinstalled with the supercharger, long tube headers, high flow cats and the Quaife is probably going to finish off everything that's left except the radio

Jim: Go for it but keep the stock/nav stereo. It's the only thing that doesn't need any modding. BTW when can we get the SD C63 crew out for a drive. I've out been with the PCA, SLK club, GTR club and even those M3 guys. Best of luck.

I love the stereo almost 100%. I can't figure out how to get the radio to mute when the Nav speaks. Other than that, I like it. Might be nice to have a wee bit more thump.

I'm up for it. I might have to rent a car. I can't seem to keep a car off the rack and on the road.

I should have guessed this was another moster build incited by ACGSD. Hurry and finish Jim's car and let plan a fun run up Palomar.

Its a good thing I did the 993 resto-mod first so I have something to drive besides my Fuji umpteen speed.

No, honestly I have no idea what a K1 is. I'm guessing its related to a Kleeman something but I really do not know what it is. The local electric cart tracks here are K1 Speed and that is the first thought that entered my head.

first things first, get the 2010 side mirror covers available on ebay for $179 - best mod for the buck yet. also, the aluminum AMG door pins are nice touches that add class to the somewhat dour interior.

then a tune!

I dropped the car off. I probably won't see it or my spare change for a few months now. But I'll keep the door lock pins in mind But I'd prefer CF, they're even lighter
