Can't wait to see what the "track oriented options" are going to be! I'm hoping one will be a lightweight titanium exhaust that also gives a nice power boost. Interested to see the optional rear wing as well.

Maybe I'm the hater that wishes he could have a CLK63 BS and C63 BS too.
...... at this point it's all speculative anyways. It's just one article about the car. Who knows, could be the baddest thing ever to roll the streets and tracks. We'll see when it hit's the shores in a year or so .....

Im so disappointed. Once you remove the killer seats for USDM it will look just like a regular C63 inside. Only exterior point I like is the hood. Rest is nice but nothing over the top which stirs deep emotion. And the price point will be even harder to justify now. Guess we will have to wait and see more pics.

I bet the price is significantly lower than the CLK BS. The CLK coupe was more comparable to the current E class coupe I would argue, allowing the C coupe to offer a more attainable product. Also there is the fact that most people realize the CLK BS was overpriced from the factory hence the huge depreciation those models have suffered.

Mercedes is smart enough to learn from that car and price this one more competitively seeing as apparently the C63 will not be limited and they will be looking to maximize sales. I'm sure they realize the actual competition for the C63 black series is a 911 or 911S and will price accordingly with the massive competition the all new 991 model will bring around the same release date.

There is such a huge market for aftermarket on all the non-BS C63 cars, they can cash in huge on a car like the C63 BS if it can stay well under 100k.

CLK63 Black Series
At 100K it is significantly cheaper than the CLK was in price, but the C63 BS wont have all the goodies standard. Look closely at the pictures, it' doesn't even have a strut tower brace in the front. That means no strut brace in the rear either. The interior looks like it doesn't have any carbon fiber. The only thing carbon fiber standard "might be" the rear diffuser. Take away the extra cooling features and go to standard KW's and AMG safes a lot of money. Like I said, the money will most likely be in the option list. You want the carbon fiber trunk spoiler? Pay. You want additional oil coolers? Pay. You want a carbon fiber interior? Pay. You want strut braces? Pay ......

100K base plus gasguzzler plus destination charge plus options and you'll be in the 120's in no time. Nothing new though, Porsche is master of that game

Here's hoping the majority of prospective buyers are the target demographic and will tick all the "right" boxes. That said, I kind of like the fully-loaded, one price model from the perspective of someone who bought a CLK63 Black second-hand. It made the search EXTREMELY easy and fairly pleasant. You end up shopping based on the owner history, mileage, care, etc rather than searching for one spec'd just the way you would spec. I'd imagine its the same with GT-R's, almost no options, mostly everything standard. I just have a nightmare scenario in imagination where most C63 Blacks will have next to no "optional" extras like track radiators, rear seat delete, carbon fiber body panels, etc. This may be redeemed in that most dealers making orders tick almost every box in hopes of maximizing profit. Hence the many SLSs in showrooms where the "prospective orderer" (i.e. a dealer fabricated buyer) are ~$230K, including options such as carbon fiber panels under the hood for $6k, where no one can see. That's the other end of the spectrum, where unnecessary boxes are ticked. Hopefully there's a happy middle ground where the hardest choice is between one with a backseat and one without.

I just noticed ..... looks like you can't lower the rear quarter windows. Like the 208 CLK I owned. That sure helps with the stiffness of the chassis ..... much cheaper to produce too One feature I like about the 209 CLK's. Looks good when all 4 windows are down, plus with our seats you have real access to the storage shelf. I guess the C63 BS will have folding seats for cars spec'd with rear seats, which wont have big side bolsters anymore.

I have to stop looking at the pictures ....... otherwise I really sound like a hater

pretty sick, but I like the way the CLK BS looks more--it's more subtle, this one looks like they collaborated with Reiger to make the bodykit.

Can someone explain to me the draw for a car like this to have a rear seat delete? I'm not hating on incredible cars like the CLK 63 BS or E46 M3 CSL, but I just don't understand the logic behind it.

If you want a 2 seater why not get something that is designed for 2 seats and not 4? An SL, SLS, Cayman, Vette, Viper, Ferrari, Lambo, R8, Lotus, Z4M, Z3M, etc?

If you are going to accept the compromise of the additional weight and size required to accommodation rear seats, it seems logical you would want some kinda of benefit from that compromise other than a rear storage shelf; something most pure 2 seaters have anyways.

The only car I can sort of understand this logic for is in a 911 since you are at least getting the benefit of rear weight distribution and rear engine dynamics out of cars like the GT3 and GT2. However I still feel the rear seats should be available even in the GT series Porsche cars since that is what a "911" is.

Obviously I will keep the rear seats if I end up ordering a C63 BS, but I would never look down on someone would went for the delete. I would just expect them to be rocking a half-cage and bucket seats like I am in my 911.

While I think it looks awesome, for the price I'd rather get a GT-R and the Switzer P800 package.

Most likely has carbon ceramic brakes, at least in the front anyway. The drill holes don't really help performance anyway.

I'm 6'1 and even if my CLK would have rear seats, who, besides little children would want to sit behind me? I had a couple of 993's and 996's ..... no one ever sat in the rear seats. Don't blame them either. Unless they measure 50 inches in height, it's pure torture . The roll bar I had in my last Porsche didn't have a cross bar for the harness. My CLK has one, so even if there were rear seats, you couldn't get there anyway. It's a 4th car, so the rear seat delete was never an issue for me.

Haha, I don't think that would work without making your own side skirts, but do keep us informed on the hood! I think that should be a direct swap

But I'm still not sure if I change to the facelift front. If I will the hood is an hot option
