2 more sleeps
and I get my new 2011 white C63 AMG... I'm unbelievably excited. Anything that I should/shouldn't do right away?
I've been seeing postings about a 1000k burn in period - so will do some research on that - but other than the 1000k burn in... anything else?

congrats man, you'll love it. as far as the "burn in" let's just say i'm sure most of us did the best we could. i wouldn't worry about it too much.. as i'm sure people here will tell you, a lot of people couldn't (and didn't) wait that long.

I think in Canada we only have 2 trim levels - fully loaded with the perf and prem package, or fully loaded with the premium package. I opted for the latter - I didn't like the stock rims on the perf package - and I love the stock rims on the perf packaage - and there was only one calcite white c63 with that option left in Canada.

Be prepared to replace your rear Pirelli's tires in about 6 months
It may take less then that, if you drive it like a lunatic

That brings up another question - the stock pirelli's are $600 a tire ($2400 total) here in Canada - which is very expensive as compared to others - can we not just replace them with some after market, not-so-expensive tire that is just as good (or better)?

Of course, you can use any rubber that fits. The best thing about this car is that we can try SO MANY different tires in a very short period of time.

600$ a tire is too much.. Stay away from the stealership when u buy tires... I hear good things about Hankook V12, best bang for the bucks. I got my General from Toronto for 1000$, but they are not great for track, just dd.

Congrats. I've got one more day before I get my M3. Love both of these cars. I'll be sad to see the C63 go. It has been a flawless car with no issues except evaporating rear tires.

The sad part is the AMG never tested an alternate tire for the C63, besides Pirelli. I replaced mine wore out tires with Continental Extreme DW, and I have the DWS on the E63. I love Continental tires, and will continue to use them, until something else comes on the market that's better. The Pirelli's have great grip, but the soft compound just wears out to quick.

I got these a couple of months ago for my G35...
Continental Extreme contact DWS 245/45/R18
Do you think I could use them on the C63? I know it's one class below... but size wise, would they fit?
I've not yet done a lot of research on the tires.

Reminds me of when I was a kid when I would count how many nights were left before my birthday or xmas!
But waiting for your new car is like that X 1000.
Very exciting
I'm living vicariously through you right now.

I love the OEM Conti-Sport as well.. I tested them on the track in Mt - Tremblant & they grip well even in the wet.
I don't drive my car in winter.

In a pinch you could us them for rear tires, although they are 10mm narrower then the stock Pirellis. I presume that you have no intention on driving in the winter. If you are, you will definitely be changing out those Pirellis. Temperatures below 35 degrees fahreheit, they provide very little grip, as if the tires were bald. You will see what I mean come winter.
These tires are strictly High Performance Summer Tires, period. I was flirting with disaster this last winter, the car was very skitches in the rear, and the front tires was fighting for grip in the corners. Mid December, I had to change them out, or I would have killed myself, when the temperatures dropped even lower.
