Spare key cost
Hi everyone,
Just came out of a 08 911 Turbo into a 10 C63 with 6k miles (wife is 8.5 months pregnant with our first kiddo).
Unfortunately, the car came with no manuals and a single key. I already downloaded the owners manual and maintenance guide from mbusa, but does anyone know the cost to get a spare key made and/or a better source than the dealer? I did a search but did not have any luck...
Thanks in advance for any help!

Not to get us off topic, but I'd really like to know your impressions coming from the 911 turbo. I am thinking of going that way in a couple of years. You can PM me if you want. Thanks!!

Congrats on becoming a dad soon! That's awesome. Do you know if its a boy or girl?
Also, if you wouldn't mind sharing your impressions of the 911 turbo vs. your C63 I'd love to hear. Maybe others would also...

I just picked up a 996 turbo. I'm still driving the C63 lol. The turbos going to end up being the winter car. The 911 is pretty bland to drive. It corners better but isn't as fun as the C63. The turbo lag, however minuscule, is driving me insane. Honestly, it makes zero sense unless you drive both cars.
I felt the same way with my buddy's GT-R.

Would love to hear the OP's experience but here was mine.
I had a 997S and had the pleasure of driving a 997TT for more than a couple of weeks.
The 997TT is faster than the C63 in all avenues but there there is no real pleasure in going fast in it. It gives you little feedback as far as your senses go.
The car feels like it is on rails. It will take corners at unbelievable speed.
The C63 in comparison is raw. Turn the traction to sport or off, pound the accelerator and you will feel alive. It is not faster, just more fun.
Watch the top gear comparo with the M and Audi and Jeremy's comments are right on.
As a side note, with just a tune and in straight line, a C63 will beat a stock 911TT and will kill a 997S. (Mile run with online results if anyone does not believe).
My final thoughts:
every morning I leave the door open when I start the C63 to hear the rumble.
I have a smile on my face everytime I do a hard run in the C63.
The 997S or the 997TT never did.

Re: the 911 Turbo - it has always been my dream car. One of the only near "super-cars" that can also be a daily driver. I picked it up last fall as an 08 black/black 6spd on black HRE P40's, with alcantara sports seats, alcantara steering wheel and shift boot, and yellow deviated stitching. It had the LSD, yellow carbon ceramic brakes, sport chrono package, NAV, etc and an original MSRP of $164k....which I got for $83k. It also had the GT2 slave cylinder, upgraded variable speed turbos, and GIAC tune - I then added 2011 GT2 intercoolers and a fabspeed exhaust. Put down about 630hp on pump gas, also had a Race tune but I never dyno'd on race gas, just ran race gas at the track.
Bottom line, I LOVED that car, the power was ferocious and as others mentioned it will put power to the ground like nothing you can imagine and cornered like it was glued to the road.
Downsides
Size: Any friend that wanted to climb into the back seat had to sit sideways to fit. Even in the front seat it is just a small car.
Lag: No matter what you do, there is nothing like the instant torque of a big NA motor like the C63's. I can't say the turbo lag was enough to be annoying, I just love how instant the response is in the C63.
Sound: Turbos choke the exhaust note, no if's, and's or but's about it. The sound of the C63 firing up sends chills down my spine. I'm keeping the sunroof cracked as I drive just so I can hear it more as I drive down the street.

Finally, the experience: I seriously considered the M3 as well. I've read the countless magazine articles over the years about how the M3 is almost the "perfect" blend of daily driver and track star. I would say it is actually closer to the turbo in track-ability than the C63.
Having said that, I chose the C63.
Why?
For the same reasons others have mentioned. It's raw. It's loud. It feels alive. It feels like it is going to bite me at any moment. When I am on the throttle heavily (which is all the time) I feel like I am having to use my skill just to keep the beast under control..and that excites and entertains me.
Next step, Eurocharged V3 tune, which I plan to do while on the dyno. Will post results when done...

You will be happy with Eurocharged. That is what I had when I ran the mile run.
There was another C63 that ran a bit faster than me and I believe that Jerry at that time was being conservative with his tune. Since then, he has polished it and his V3 version is hot stuff.

I bought a replacement key a few years ago, and it cost me $295, this was for a C230. But these keys average close to $300 depending on the dealership.

The copy was delivered to me after paying 290 to the dealer. Hope that helps.
BTW: thanks for sharing your experiences wih the 911TT vs C63s. I was debating myself if buying a 996 Turbo or the AMG next year (We are planning kids too). Those thoughts are very useful.
