C63AMG coupe or E550 coupe?
Hey all, new to this forum, but VERY excited to be purchasing my first car! Been saving up for a while and I'm extremely interested in both the c63amg and the e550coupe.
Just wondering what your thoughts are on pros/cons of each?
FYI I am 6'4"
E550coupe vs C63amg
-v8 402bhp vs 450bhp, noticeable difference? Both seem powerful and adequate
-Styling, suppose its individual taste, but e550 looks more "luxurious" compared to the sport c63amg
-electromechanical steering on e550 coupe (what benefits will this have anyways)
-both seem to have settings to change ride dynamics (sport to comfort)
-size? Similiar wheelbase it seems? Headroom and legroom seem almost identical, which is surprising...
-Luxury features on e550- rear shade, seatbelt assit, heated/cooled seats, ashwood trim
Any other thoughts? Was anyone else contemplating these two?
I'll be heading to the dealer tomorrow to see for myself,
thanks much!

What you might want to do is try and see if they have any courses coming up in your area - and then drive them on the track before you decide which to buy.

"I thought the E63, as compared to the C63 and CLSs, was a horrible car. I would never, ever, consider getting it. What I would consider, though, which I didn't think I'd like, was the 2012 C63 coupe. It is an awesome car - but so is the sedan. I would say that it performs slightly better, most likely due to the decreased weight (or so I assume)."
Wait a second, are you talking about the new W212 E63 with the new 5.5 Bi-turbo??

Nope,
I"m talking about the 2012 E550 coupe, not the amg.
In my opinion these two cars compete for the same clientel, the prices fully loaded are VERY comparable.
thanks

With that said, they were the cars being used by the instructors as a measure of our driving - because they weren't very forgiving and were harder to drive as compared to the other cars. And I suppose you could say, "well, that just means that they're good cars because they're not forgiving and you have to be a better driver", to which I'd respond - the SLS AMGs, which are in a totally different class, are the complete opposite of the E63s.
I do have pics - so perhaps I will post a couple later, and you guys can tell me which it is. I'm not near as familiar with the various models as you guys are!

But what I'm saying is, that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree - so the e550 would be similar to an e63.. and if you're going for fun and excitement as opposed to luxury, then the C63 is probably more suited to your tastes. If the opposite, then maybe the e550 is a better choice - but definitely take them both for a test drive, and tax them around a couple corners at high speed!

To me the E coupe is more of a womens car.. C63 is raw and awesome! get the C63 coupe if you want two doors, but the connivence of 4 is nice. If you are buying the car for comfort go E if you are buying it for driving pleasure then AMG definitely!

To OP, have you tried to sit in the C63?
I'm only 5'10 about 190lbs and find the seats in the C63 very snug.
At 6'4, you might have issues...

Exactly. make sure you sit in the car before you order it. I think that the new seats in the c63 coupe are a little less agressive than the 08 to 11 models but still really snug.

Hey all,
So got a chance to look at the coupes today, of course dealerships were closed, but both looked very nice from the outside (I only saw the c350, no amg).
I could tell from the outside that the c coupe looked like it would be a tight fit. But I loved the look, and think I am leaning towards the c63amg.
I am nervous about the fit however, I'm a big guy 250lb, with very broad shoulders, and the aggressive seating might be incompatable with me, which makes me quite sad.
I did see an S5 and it looked to be more spacious than the c coupe. I guess I'll just have to sit in it to find out, but I'm now pessimistic.
Maybe I'm just too big for coupes. Anyone here my size or know of people my size who have coupes and are happy?
thanks again!

The Audi S5 is a pig, it understeers bad when pushed hard into the corners. Audi's have traditionally place the engine forward of the front axles, this was a mistake on the S5. Don't get me wrong this is a nice car, but it use some improvements in the handling department. But if you never drive the car at the limit then I say get it. But if you ever push it to the max, then you will find out it's weakness immediately.

I was in the same boat and I went with the C63 sedan over the E550 coupe. I really love the styling of the coupe inside and out. I was coming from a G37 S soupe, a sporty car with a stiff suspension so getting into a C63 was not a big deal but it is very stiff as a daily driver.
If you info of driving a Lexus right is correct, I recommend obviously driving them but you won't last a month in the C63. You will find it too hard. The E550 has a much better ride while being out of sorts on a racetrack.
Get the E550 coupe.
