After 7k miles, the fronts were at 6/32 and the rears at 3/32. The rears got down to 4/32 after only 5k miles, but wear rate seemed to slow down after that. I picked up a nail near the sidewall of a rear tire, so had to replace the rears. Otherwise, I think they would have lasted another 2k miles.
I loved my PSS they lasted 15k kms of hard driving. Unfortunately they are toast and Im looking for something cheap to get me by until I get new wheels with PSS next spring! Ill take a picture of them for you guys when they come off on saturday... there is no grip what so ever!

I had Kuhmos on my C55, good tire for the price. But if performance/budget is your concern, you should try the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo.

Im getting the kumho ecsta le sports 265 to last until my winters go on in december. Ill let you guys know my impressions vs the PSS. These are a budget tire but I heard they have tons of grip. I was originally leaning towards the hankook RS3s but was told Id burn through them in less than 3000kms!!

Really HARD drive and 15K km on them ??? that sounds like really good tires then, great performance and great lifelimit

have on rear now CS5+ and did with them about 13,000 km, looking for replacing already, looks like the PSS is the way forward

I know this is an old thread, but thought that as it and other threads on the forum helped me made decisions, the least I can do is post what I found to work.. and really like in terms of wheel / tire combinations. I just had to buy new rears, so was on the hunt for something wider.

Here's the end result.. this is on a 2010 C63 with 18" rims

The wheels are TSW Max Hyper Silver Wheels (plastidipped black)

Front: 18x8.5 offset 43 (Wearing what I bought it with: Nexen 235/40
Rear: 18.9.5 offset 53 (Wearing New Michelin PSS 265/35

The story behind the wheels is I bought the car with aftermarket wheels and bent one, and couldn't get a match. It was a nightmare trying to find a non OEM set, but ended up buying these TSWs from bigwheels.net ( highly recommended family run business). The front tires, 235/40s were fine on this slightly wider rim, but my rears Nexen 255/35 looked really aweful.. So I wore them out real quick.

The Michelins are significantly wider, even though on paper it should only be 10mm.. No way. BIG difference. When I picked up the rims with the tires fitted I was afraid they would be too wide, but they fit fine with no rubbing.

Hope this helps someone else out on the search some day.

Thanks for the pictures and info, really helpful.

I am trying to get the same set for my 2012 C63 as well, I have the performance package with big brake calipers in the front, and faced issues clearing those calipers with few other sets of wheels I tried, can you tell me if you have the big brake calipers and if you were able to install the front ones without the need for spacers to clear the calipers?
Appreciated.

All C63s have the same size calipers front and rear. The PP front calipers are just painted red. The vender should be able to confirm fitment over the brake calipers.

I do have the S32 package or whatever it is.. but not sure if they are bigger or just red like someone else suggests. The wheel vendor told me that the manufacturer was a little uncomfortable with potential fit on the front so suggested I buy spacers just in case. I did NOT need them, but it's possible that I will need to when I replace brake pads. Still seems like there is reasonable clearance but no idea what percentage of wear I have right now. The spacers were only 2 or 3 mm.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, this is very helpful info.
I am getting the same TSW's like yours and the manufacturer is saying they might not fit, but as you have tried the same wheels on the same car, I am more comfortable to proceed, and I will get the 2-3mm spacers just in case. That's not bad at all, I was more worried if you needed like 12mm spacers or so, this happened to me when I tried to fit the Niche Misano M117 18x8 wheels, they needed 12mm spacers to clear the calipers so I backed off and going for the TSW's now.

How do you like them on your car? On the pics they look really good!

Looking good. Did you get the 18x8+42 in the front? Can you tell me what spacers did you use to clear the calipers, was it 12mm?

I LOVE that you are running WIDER in the FRONT than in the BACK. That is very 2017 Camaro RS!!!

Hey, just checking did you use spacers in the front? If so, can you tell me what thickness you used in order to clear the calipers?

Winter Tires

In case anyone is interested in Winter tires, I have had much better rear tire tread life with Bridgestone Blizzak 275/35r18 95V than the Continentals. Easily have 20k miles on them and they still have at least 95% of the tread left.

For winter tires I am a Michelin Alpin PA4 / X-Ice Snow (and have used the previous 3s and 2s) and Nokian Hakka R3/R2/various studded versions owner.

But that being said I had a set of Goodyear Ultragrips on my C63 and was very surprised at their performance. Not as much as grip as the Michelin or Nokian tires, but had excellent dry grip, snow grip and in particular handled the slush as well as the Nokians. The Michelins in slush / crud (snow that has been driven on, but not packed) are pretty average for a winter tire. The sidewall was noticeably softer, but not an issue.

And they had much better life than the Michelin and Nokians. You cannot have it all, but they are good alternative if you are hard pressed to find what you want.
