To tint or not to tint. That is the question.

Guys this is just my .2 being a police officer. 1. Let me make it very clear that I don't condone what that officer did. That was just wrong and gives us "the good cops" a bad reputation. I would NEVER damage anyone's car that is wrong and you should file a formal complaint. These are the cops that make everyone hate us.
I can tell you that really dark tint ARE A OFFICER SAFETY ISSUE. We don't like walking up to cars with dark windows. Remember hands do the killing and if we can't see the hands we don't know what's going on. 95% of us are decent people who just like dark windows but you should see how many times we get shot at or tried to be ran over because we couldn't see inside the car. Please just remember we all stopping you for a traffic infraction for all we know. That same person could have just shot his wife or god knows who and thinks we are stopping him because we are looking for him. And in reality it's his tints or somthing as simple as a brake light. Yes I cite if they are way too dark but I usually give a fix it ticket so when they go to court it's dropped. Please just try to put yourself in our shoes I know there's a few bad apples but it's not all of us. Just FYI if I pull over ( and have ) pulled over the same driver in the same car for the same offense I simply note the ticket and let the Judge deal with it, not be a ***** and ruin someone's car. Guys I'm a major car guy but I can see where dark glass is a reason for safety.

CK17 - I'm not trying to be a tough guy here, I'm not. I have people to be tough guys for me, so I don't have to be bothered. But if a policeman were to vandalize my property like that, I'd wait til he were off duty, I have the resources to find where he lives, I do have the law on my side. And then he would get his much more than I got mine. I would have just gave him a nice

But this is starting to get way so I'll shut up and say that yes I think the OP should tint lol

Then you my friend are lucky! I've been pulled over several times for tint on my car...just tint...not for speeding or any other infraction and then cited for tint on top of it...just tint. Their reasoning ( as I was so politely informed) is that they can't see how many are in the vehicle or if I had weapons in the vehicle. After my third time being pulled over for tint the officer said I obviously wasn't catching on so he scratched a line with his pen down it so I had to replace it on my drivers window. I think its a joke that we can't do something as simple as tint our cars so as for now I just call it a "tint-tax" and pay it... it was my G37 that he scratched it off so I was P/O but let it slide... if he tries it on the Benz well they'll probably have justification for a ticket then...
and that office is an *** for damaging your car.

Overall I am not a fan of tint. On my W208 I even had the tint stripped(As I have with other cars), as I love the "Blue" glass look of Mercedes Glass.
My opinion changed when I saw my W209, the seller had it Ceramic Tinted professionally, and I absolutely love it. Never seen such a good tint job in my life.

I'd go with none or very light.

I'll be picking up the car tomorrow. But...not sure what tint they used lol. I know they use 3M. But my SA told me he asked for me and they said "Optical Technology Carbon Filler". I went to 3M's website and found a few different window tints including crystalline, nano ceramic, metallic, etc. Hopefully they note the product code on what they used.

pics of the tint! I didn't realize tinting the car takes that long...mine was done in about 2 hours iirc. Then again, it was two guys working on the car at the same time when i got it done, so who knows.
you're gonna love the look!

Take my word for it Khemr, I have asked far and wide, and I saw the same small ones with mine, unless they work in a total vacuum, you will always, ALWAYS have some slight imperfections with any tint job. I have asked all the pros and was bothered with a couple small pieces of dust flecks in mine...don't worry.

how dark is your tint, and where in Canada are you? 30% is a relatively light tint and it's pretty easy for people to look through the windows to see what's inside. I live around Toronto and never had a problem with tints.

Before and After pics. Only took a quick shot because was late for work lolz.
Not sure what they type of 3M they used. Looks like crystalline or ceramic I think. Looks darker in person. Pictures don't do it justice. BTW, it hasn't even been 24 hours since they did it...would it be safe to give the gal a good wash?

The last pic has the white threads in it from the windshield itself...top left. Some of it has been flattened, some has not. You can tell when you see the light color, and when it's grayed, darkened. Hard to explain it.

khmergod, the tint is inside the car, so it's safe to wash, just don't open your windows for a few days to make sure the film cures to the window. Leave it out in the sun as much as possible to help speed up the curing process.
looks good btw
