Oil Temperature?

Wondering if you guys can tell me the average oil temperature of your cars. I haven't really checked before but I noticed today my car's oil temp is around 103 - 104. Is this normal?

Yes, that’s normal.

Even hotter in manual mode, around 110-115C depending on the outside temperature.

110C? That is high!! I checked that's about 230F?

I get around 215F normal driving and if I push it hard for a bit 222F?

there are many oil temp threads. mine ran at 110C or 250F when i was racing around in my 2011 c63.....i never had a problem.

a lot of forum members have agreed that the accuracy of the c63 amg dash oil temp readings are inconsistent because of the wide range of forum members oil readings. we have hard racing figures form 200F to 250F for virtually identical engines?

Even though it was annoying to see my temp reading skyrocket....nothing ever came of it, so i wouldnt worry about it.

cheers

Mine sits at 212F at cruising speed once warmed up.
Obviously, it will jump 20F degrees when I get on it, but it usually settles back down quickly to the 212F

i have been running 105c consistently on C mode. But once its on manual with not even hard driving, it hits 112c.
On the track i have seen the car hit 135-140c.
It seems the engine oil runs at pretty high temp...

My tuner tells me its best to change engine oil if it hits above 130c, thats when the oil breaks down and does not offer much protection anymore. Anyone knows anything about this?

I had service B done and noticed my oil temps were much higher than normal and shaking at stopped/idle. After checking I figured out the stealership over-filled by nearly a quart. I sucked it out and temps went back to normal. Idiots

It'd normally stick around 105-110C during daily driving. I drove M all the time. Normally up in the high 120's when giving it stick, around 125C / 255F to 130C / 265F when giving it stick.

Depends on ambient temp and airflow to the coolers. Comparing temps wo reference to ambient is silly.

Also, there is a minimum controlled by the thermostat. I suspect that is 205F as I never see lower than that in sub 60F ambient.

I know our C63s have oil coolers. But I never saw the small fan turn. Its located on the right side next to fog light.

Quick contribution: normal driving C mode I am at 103-105. Driving in the highway at 130km/h soft mode it can go lower, even slightly below 100. But S, S+ & Manual modes can send the temperature to 115. I also noticed that using A/C helps to cool as it triggers the fans.

I come from Subaru Impreza world and indeed, temperature of my C63 made me panic. Now I know that it is « normal ».
