Spare ECU for 63 AMG Engines

Where can I get a spare ECU for any 63 platform, like for the C63 or SLS?

How much does it cost? How is it done?
Is it possible to swap between any of the ECUs freely?

ECU costs 1500 USD according to xtyper's post. And the dealership has to code your VIN in it.
You can swap between ECU's. It is easy to do.

Yep its simple to swap ECUs. Jut buy one from the dealer and get it programmed to your car then have it tuned.

Cost was around $2000CDN for the unit and $300 to have it coded to the car.

Confirm with your tuner of choice that they can get past the immobilizer codes for spare ECUs or else your car won't start with the new ECU after it is tuned.

I had this same thought when I had my C63, but I never had the ***** to do the switch in case the car / ECU recognized some discrepancy (codes, mileage, etc.). I will say I was staunchly advised against doing this by the guru I use that's worked with MBs & modded MBs for 20+ years.

I have 2 ECU's and I swap them out every now and then and never had a problem.
My dealer Vin coded it for free of charge took about 10 min.
I payed $1200 for the ECU back in 09.
