Anyone have ECU tune related issues?
Just curious if you guys can share your perspective...itching to have my ECU re-programmed but am extremely hesitant about having something go wrong as a result - be it electronically or mechanically related...
Has anyone experienced any drivetrain or electronic issues to date? I guess it's hard to tell if there was a causal relationship, but any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Issues early on with Kleeman (K2 w/ short tube headers), but once they got it dialed in car has been behaving. I do have CEL come on every few weeks for a few days, but car runs well.

It seems like the vast majority of C63 owners (at least, those that participate on car forums like MBW) decide to at least throw an ECU tune on the car. As best I can tell, the vast majority have never had any problems, and most any that have, they've been minor, easily resolved, and/or unrelated.
In fact, I only know of one tuned C63 that had a catastrophic engine failure while the tune was in the car - and we never found out if the tune was even the culprit or not. Sure, there may be others, but the incident rates seem to be very, very low... the odds appear to be in your favor, certainly.

Cool, thanks guys....really appreciate your input!
BTW, for those of you that responded that have a tune, do you drive your cars pretty hard, or what? Curious to see if there is any greater correlation as it relates to tune and driving habits..
I can feel her asking to be opened up - I think that is exactly the wish that I will grant!
C32 AMG: were the damages that you speak of taken care of by warranty? Or was that not possible due to the tune...

NON-P31.
These engines are designed to run at 510hp. They are detuned in the C63. Opening them up with a tune isn't going to cause reliability issues.
I drive it hard, otherwise I would have kept it stock.

my car is non p31...
appreciate everyone's responses!
since someone made a reference to 510hp, should I be trying to focus on the least aggressive tunes? ie Renntech instead of MHP?

I believe an aggressive tune will limit your engine's life hence why AMG detune them to start with. There are plenty tuners out there, make certain you do your research and not choose a tune based on how much horsepower it produces.

As drawde mentions, however, the detune from AMG was simply about keeping the C63 in its place - the M156 is proving to be a pretty stout motor (alleged engineering deficiencies notwithstanding).
