Well, I was really looking forward to this. Jan. 2012 issue of Sport Auto has tested both the facelifted C63 Coupe and C63 Black Series on the Nurburgring as part of their "Supertest". As usual, they have their driver Horst von Saurma performing the test, so that driver skill is taken out of the equation when comparing it with previous Supertests of other cars.

C63 Coupe (with PP, Continental Sport Contact 5P): 8:01 minutes
C63 Black Series (with aero pack, Dunlop Sport Maxx Race M0): 7:46 minutes

Some previous Sport Auto Supertest Ring times for comparison:

Pre facelift C63 Sedan (with Michelin Pilot Sport): 8:13 minutes
E92 M3 (with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup): 8:05 minutes
CLK63 Black Series (with Pirelli P Zero Corsa): 8:05 minutes
CLK DTM AMG (with Dunlop SP Super Sport Race): 7:54 minutes
SL65 Black Series (with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT): 7:51 minutes
E92 M3 GTS (with Pirelli P Zero Corsa): 7:48 minutes
SLS AMG (with Conti Sport Contact 5): 7:40 minutes

I'm very impressed with the C63 Coupe's Ring laptime with street tires. It's clear MB/AMG have made improvements compared to the pre-facelifted C63.

The C63 Black Series is also has very good laptime, when compared to the other Black Series cars. The only other AMG tested by Sport Auto that is faster is the SLS AMG.

However, it is all relative.....the C63 Black Series' laptime suddenly does not look so hot any more when you compare to the new 911 Carrera S' (991 with PDK and Pirelli P Zero) laptime of 7:44 minutes!!!

Wow... great times. It is amazing to see the improvement from the facelift and suspension tweaks and it is great to see the car hand the M3 a smack down The M3 is a great track car and on many tracks would be faster but on tracks where the power of the C63 can be used, it is very fast car too. If the car had better tires (say, 245/275 Michelin PSS or Bridgestone RE-11) I bet it would have been sub 8 seconds!

Wouldn't the extra power of the PP be the main factor behind the improved lap time compared to the pre-facelift C63?

Not so sure 30hp=12 seconds.

It's not just 30bhp. it's a lot more than that. the entire car has undergone over 2000 changes compared to its predecessor and they revise the suspension and everything along with it. and a coupe set the time; not a sedan. which also will be quicker because it is a coupe.

Being a coupe won't necessarily have any impact on how fast it navigates a track. The coupe is slightly heavier (I believe) than the sedan so, if anything, it might be slightly slower and the 2012 sedan has the face lift improvements as well.

Anyway, I'm not saying the coupe isn't faster (I have no evidence one way or the other) but just being a coupe will not necessarily impact this.

The C63 is one fast car. Its interesting to know the ring times. Not saying anything bad but I was hoping for the C63 black series to have a times around 7:20 ish.

PC Valkyrie... could you scan the page with the 8:01. It was posted on M3Post to be 8:09.

EDIT: I found another reference to the 8:01 time so no need to scan the page.

Too bad the 012 Viper competition coupe for roughly the same price just destroys that time.
