Just installed RENNtech Carbon Fiber Airbox, But Doesn't Fit Like OEM
After installing my RENNtech Carbon Fiber Airbox, I'm disappointed about the fitting. I thought after paying $2,400 for RENNtech, this would fit like OEM. There are small gaps on the edges between the OEM and RENNtech Airbox. For those who installed this airbox, are there gaps on yours too

i am runing the Carbonio, and there was a slight gap when fitting the MAF sensor. I had to slightly cut the inlets so that the MAF's would fit. Other than that everything fit like OEM. Renntech should exactley fit with no problems. Did you buy this airbox straight from renntech? If you did, contact them about, I'm %100 positive that they will help you out and propabley replace what you have.
P.S.. If the the gaps are allowing air to come out of the airbox, switch to OEM airbox. air out, will cause a CEL after a while and will result in a loss of power.

Trouble with Carbon Fiber is it warps no matter what after it is fabricated...it will never be absolute perfect. But you cannot have gaps...you cannot drive with leakage. Definitley call Renntech and ask for assistance.

I wonder about some of their products and product installs...RENNtech badly butchered the strut tower on a C63 installing their camber plates, it looks like they cut up the tower with a Harborfreight angle grinder, I was disappointed / shocked.

Same issue with mine. Couple of the tabs where the screws fit have cracks as well.
You won't get a CEL as any air coming through those gaps is pre MAF. Only thing is it isn't filtered.
I'm taking mine off and putting factorys ROW's back on.

Are you sure it is still not sealing with the foam edge around the filter?
Anyway there is no question this product should be higher quality and a better fit for what they charge for it and bill as a high quality product.

I not sure it's 100% sealed, the inside corner is flush with the OEM box, but the outside corner has a gap. I'll emailed RENNtech and waiting for their response.

that's a beautiful box. it's a shame that the fitment isn't perfect though. I definitely would agree with you that since it's RennTech and carries the premium, that it should be perfect...

Tomas from RENNtech just contacted me and offered me a full refund or wait until early next year for their new design airbox and pay the difference. They have great service!
