2012 C63 Issues

Alright so after driving my new 2012 C63 for the past couple months here are some issues Ive run into. Nothing too serious.

1. I had a sensor tell me that the driver's side head rest was not latched after washing the car. Funny because the driver's seat has the head rests completely built into the seat. It went away a few hours later.

2. When playing with my engine opening everything up and such, once I started the car a warning came up 'Please check oil level at next refuel!' I checked the oil and everything seems fine. I reopened and closed everything and the warning came off. Maybe a loose cap?

3. I can drive with the parking brake on. Is this normal?! My brother parked the car for me one time and put the parking brake on. I didn't notice as I put the car in reverse and backed out. When I put it in drive I looked up and noticed.

4. I can put the car into drive or reverse then start the car and continue on. Is this normal?! I get the red warming shift to park but I can still turn the car on and everything. The warning even goes away after.

5. My tires are gone in 7500kms but that another thread (https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...e-monster.html)

Any comments?? Maybe all of these are common for previous years owners as well.

#3 is normal... parking brakes are easily overpowered by the gas pedal.

#5 is normal too . When picked up the car, the dealer asked how many sets of tires they should preorder for me!

Yes
#2 - how many miles are on the car when this happened?

Typically you will get this notice every 6-8k or so depending on how hard you drive the car. It eats oil.

I replaced my stock 18" conti 5 rears after almost exactly 7500km. Moderate-spirited driving, no burnouts. Replaced with conti DW and will never look back.

A couple of fast cars.
My issues:

#1 Rattle on driver's side. Panel taken off, a screw wasn't completely tightened and the washer was rattling. Solved.

#2 Check engine light came on (had about 600 miles) and car was running very rough. Had to pull over on freeway, restarted car and roughness went away though light stayed on. Lost cylinders 5-8 according error code. Hasn't happened since.

Yeah, 2k miles and already ordered new tires. Michelin PSS's.

Yes I have Keyless go, maybe a function of this. It doesn't bother me, I just thought it was weird.

Im at roughly 8000km. The warning came on last night again. I opened the oil cap again and closed it. The warning went off. I will put some oil in on the weekend just to be safe. Do I just put synthetic? I haven't looked into it yet.

Im planning on getting PSS's too next spring. probably 265 (275 if they don't rub). What size did you order? Let me know how they are, Ive read a bit on them they're expensive but seem worth it.

Your #2 is weird. Glad to see it hasn't happened since.

I ordered 275/30/19 and 255/35/19. May be getting installed today. They shouldn't rub, if you look at the specs of the Yoko's that were on my car in 255/30/19 and 235/35/19 their is only a difference of .7" width on each tire therefore should only be .35" more on the inside of the tire.

I double checked with Autoscope here in Dallas and Steve, the GM, has an 09 c63 and he said there won't be an issue at all.

Yoko's Section Width
255 10.2
235 9.5

Mich Section Width
275 10.9 (265's are only .2" slimmer)
255 10.2

The reviews of the tire are pretty incredible, gotta say I haven't been this excited about a tire since the first time I ordered PS Cups for my e46 m3 way back when...

Oh, I have already had an all day track day on the OEM tires, which is why I needed new tires already. Really ate up the passenger side front, lot of left hand turns and all the weight being transferred to the tire and, well, it's not exactly a light car.

Rattle in dash somewhere, when i push in the glove compartment it goes away. They took my panels off and did not found anything. I got to figure this out.

You'll want to check the oil to verify first. Go to the dealer, they top it off for free for me when I get that light. 0w40 Mobil1 Full Syn is what my dealer uses. That way you can be sure it's not a defective sensor or something.

I believe the light triggers when you are a quart/quart and a half low. It won't stay on, it just comes on to remind you every now and then, so the gas cap stuff and turn on/turn off to see if it "goes away" is irrelevant.

i had a 2009 and now i have a 2010

1. never had that happen before.
2. this car drinks oil. usually between 7k-9k from your last oil change, this message will likely come up. i take my car to the dealer to get it topped off for free
3. after driving a few feet, the dash should give you a big message informing you that your parking brake is still on.
4. i have keyless go as well, and i haven't been able to do this before. i have to start the car in order to move it into neutral or anything beyond park.
5. no comment... lol

Quick question: Did the Yoko's come stock on your car?

Mine can with Yokos on the 19" wheels. They are Advan Sport, not the Advan Neova extreme performance ones.

You think an 11" width would still be ok? I'm thinking of getting some 18" wheels ans 275 Toyo R888's.

A few times before when I look at the right corner of my front hood, It looked like it was not flushed to the body as if I neglected to close it properly after looking in the engine bay. At first I did not mind because the hood seem pretty secured. Today, I made a closer inspection and compared it to the left front corner and indeed it was not aligned the same way. So I opened the hood and I was surprise to see there is actually a left and right hood latch locked, something new to me. Previous cars only had one in the middle. So I close the hood and this time pushing on the left and right side and there it was lined up perfectly. I might just be stupid but it might be something someone here might not be aware of and might be a cause of rattle or funny noises.

Just got my C63 a few days ago; I only have one issue so far and that is a nasty pinging/rattling sound which seems to be coming from the driver's seat.

Took in to the dealer, they gave me back the car stating that the rattle is gone now that they've lined the seatback with felt. Of course, the rattle is still there, however, if I position the seat to its lowest setting, it goes away. I see absolutely nothing loose under there and cannot for the life of me figure this one out.

I find 3 out of 5 normal (wearing tires, driving with the brake and oil compsumtion).
My car slowed down with the oil issues.

Op maybe a bad oil sensor. Don't add oil without making sure it isn't needed. Too much oil isn't good either

My car was delivered Jan 11th 2012 with the 16 spoke black wheels and the tyres are Continental whilst other Aussies who got their cars delivered about the same time are Yoko's

Perry are you north side in Sydney? If so saw your car the day I went in and bought mine off the floor. It had just come out of predelivery and was being photographed by the sales guy to be sent to you.
