C63 vs E550
Coming from a G35 I was looking for something with more power and still "sporty". I wasn't sure I needed as much "sport" as the C63 so I was comparing the 2010 E550 sedan vs the 2010 C63. I test drove them both and still couldn't decide which was just the right car for me. The E was nice, but maybe just a little too big. The C was fast, but maybe just a little to beastly for me (sounds like Goldilocks and the 3 bears).
A week later I found a different dealer with 1 of each that I would consider buying. Test drove them both and decided on the 2010 C63 with under 900 miles.
While we're writing it up, the wife and I talk about her 2008 E350 that she has never really liked. Next thing I know, she's driving home in a beautiful 2012 E550 Coupe and I'm saying "I'll race you home". We're both looking forward to switching cars back and forth.
Ain't America great.

Congrats on both! The C63 is a completely different car IMO and way more "fun" to drive but less relaxing and comfortable. You can choose what mood you're in and you are covered either way

Good practical comparison.
These are 2 good cars in the same price range that are good status cars but give very different experiences. I believe many of us have been in this position in looking for "the perfect car". On this forum, most of us have obviously chosen the more "sporty" decision. I'd be interested in more write-up in regards to your opinion on having each of these cars. I always wanted an E55/E63 until the C63 came along in 2008.

2010 C63 vs 2010 E550 sedan
I will try to do a write up on the coupe comparison after I get some time in her coupe. I only drove the E550 sedan and I'd guess they'll handle a bit differently. Since the coupe is based on the C class chassis I might actually like it better than the E sedan.
The sedan was a comfortable ride and had an adjustable suspension to tighten it up a bit. It was great on high speed turns like freeway cloverleafs and not bad on tighter maneuvers. The E has a nicer interior and I actually preferred the Driving Dynamic seats to those in the C63. They are not as stiff and have great adjustments for the bolsters. Those seats also have a massager for those long trips. I think the engine in the 550 was plenty of power for me and the exhaust sound was pretty impressive on the inside, though the car is quiter than the C63 at highway speed.
After writing this, I can still see why I couldn't make up my mind. It's just a compromise between a fast, tight, maneuverable "beast" and a pretty fast, pretty tight, pretty maneuverable, luxury sedan. Sometimes I want the former, and sometimes I want the latter. I guess whoever leaves for work in the morning gets their choice.

We took delivery of our '12 E550C yesterday. https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-c...2-26-11-a.html
Over they years had many fast cars including Porsches, a Z06, and more; the new E is a "sleeper". The 2012 BiTurbo is surprisingly fast and the exhaust sound inside the car is deep and throaty, but not over the top.
Also, the ride in Sport is firm, but not "jarring".
We love it!

The G3x cars aren't ugly....but they do tend to display various manifestations of insecurity. Even when I was in my M3 or 335i...don't know, I guess they can pick on 328s and C300s.

E550 Coupe comparison
I finally got some seat time in the wife's 2012 E550 coupe to compare against my 2010 C63 sedan. I'd say this coupe is definitely worth a look if you're considering a C63 coupe, but aren't sure you need that much stiffness or HP.
In sport mode the handling is very good. The steering is lighter than the C63, but still very precise. (As a side note, the 2010 E550 sedan I drove had tighter steering, closer to the C63). There is no slop in the steering and the suspension does a good job on the tight twisties. It's not as solid as the C over a road with bumps and dips in the turns as the rear gets a little more jumpy in the mid corner.
The engine has plenty of HP, though you can feel it's not as quick as the C63 and the exhaust note delivers maybe 70% of the joy of the C63.
The seats in the E are more compliant (softer) than the C63 and still offer plenty of support. My favorite seats were the Driving Dynamic ones in the E550 sedan. Those are very supportive and adjustable while also adding the massager.
I'll enjoy whichever car is in the garage when I leave for work. If I'm the first one out then I'll probably leave the E, but if it's the only choice out there then I'll still arrive at work with a smile on my face.

There is one customized G37S near home that was acting like a douche when I was in my 190e. I doubt he would've acted the same if I had the C63 that day.
