I need some opinions, been tossing the idea of trading in the C63 for a GT500, Z06, or GT-R. Purchase would be based on maintenance costs, reliability, and daily driveability. Not saying I'm gonna trade in the C63 right away but any input would be appreciated.

Will be sad to see you go, but the choice is obvious. GT-R hands down!

Thanks Eric, GT-R was my first choice as well, but love the raw V8 power of the GT500 and Z06. lol

First decide if you want 2 or three pedals.

Z06 is dated so i would take that out of the list. Are you talking about the 2013 GT500? It has very impressive numbers. Brembo brakes 650hp! I haven't driven a GT-R but If I sell my car I will buy one. Time to try a japanese car

reliability - GT-R
DD - mustang

but the GT-R probably has the lowest rate of depreciation, plus it is the best all around car by the numbers.

corvette probably going to have a new body style soon.

I would be happy with a DCT or 6spd.
Yes, I am talking about the 2013 GT500. Very impressive numbers indeed!

The only thing that's making me worried about the GT-R is the warranty issue and the transmission. Your right though, they hold they're value very well.

GT-R all day bro. Mustang will be a beast no doubt but the GT-R provides better interior build quality (if any Mustang I've ever been in is any indicaiton) combined with higher-end tech and performance. The AWD makes more sense as a DD also for inclimate weather (650HP+RWD isn't a good combo in rain!)

I have had a gtr for almost 3 years and it would never be my daily driver... but thats me. Its not bulletproof and servicing under heavier miles can be pricey. Its not as bad some of the haters make it to be but transmission oil changes, brake jobs, etc can add up if you are on a budget.

To me the GTR is a great 2nd, 3rd, or 4th car. Now let me tell you about the 997.1TT that I used to have- 20k miles and all I did was change the oil. And the car was modded with exhaust, headers, plenum, throttle body, y pipe, ecu and other minor adjustments. The 997TT is bulletproof; actually so was my 996TT. I drove both like I stole em from day one.

I just want to forewarn you that the GTR is a great low mileage car and non daily driver plus the warranty is a shorter term (3/36k). Its performance is unmatched dollar for dollar but its still a pay to play car IMHO.

I have minimal experience with the Z06 but I hear its much like the S85 M5 or M6 where it requires alot of work to get the most out of it. After all the tq you have had from on dig on tap with no effort in the c63; this car could be laborious for you as a daily.

The Stang is intriguing to say the least with its hp bump... and you could get it fully warrantied but the looks are not for me.

To beat your C63; 2012 E63 TT or ZR1 but GTR is OK too.
Keep your C63 over Z06 and GT500.

GT-R for sure. I had one for a year after my last C63 and it was a very good car with truly exceptional performance. Dealers suck as they are used to dealing with Altima's and a not $90k car. GT-R needs to sold and serviced at Infiniti dealerships in my opinion.

I came back to a C63 - love the big 8 cyl and sound and the performance is more than adequate for the street.

Thanks for the input Vic, great to hear a review like this from an actual owner. I knew the maintenance costs weren't as bad as people make it sound like but in the mean time I wouldn't want it to break my wallet as I rack up the miles.

The ZR1 is a beast for sure but I wouldn't want to DD it.

Roads aren't the best in Los Angeles, but there are a few places I know that I can stretch the cars legs. lol
How are the maintenance costs on the GT-R? Did you have any major/minor problems with the car?
Thanks

I know what you mean, as much as I love the C63 and its engine I would wanna give the GT-R a go since its a car I've been eye balling for a while.

I totally agree. I am currently looking to replace my C63 with a GTR (or maybe just add to it!)
In Vancouver we definitely have our share of INCLEMENT weather.

Owned a GTR for about 1 1/2 years.

PRO's
- lots of attention
- excellent handling
- amazing acceleration

Con's
- lack of low end torque (must wind up engine for fun)
- stiff ride
- when your not racing around, car can get boring
- rear seats (very little room)

Summary: would make good second or third car (toy)

Own a 2007 Z06 that has been heavily modified

Pro's
- Extremely fast (lots of torque, even stock)
- not expensive to modify for lots of power
- great car for track
- bang for the buck (get a second had one will low miles, cheap)

Con's
- quality of interior not great
- fit and finish needs more
- poor seats (aftermarket needed)
- no rear seats
- not fun when stuck on 405 traffic
- not built like a German car
- keep your torque wrench handy

Summary: This would be a good toy for a second/third car. Will help give you the torque fixing when you need it.

Another car to consider for the price range and similar characteristic

911 S (997.2)

Pro
- amazing build quality
- best steering response
- fairly quick for keeping your drivers license
- excellent handling

Con
- needs more low end torque (turbo??)
- very little storage
- stiff suspension for long trips (varies by person)

Summary: ideal for a second car

If your looking for an all around car with performance, ride quality, space, lots of driver gadget toys, ect..

keep the C63 or test drive a 2012 CLS 550 (similar price range)

Decisions.... Have fun

GTR or Z06 for me. Z06 for daily driver AND track use. I think Z06 is best bang for the buck.

Why would you get a Z06 when you can get a used ZR1 for around the same price as a GTR (in the $70s)

After reading the comments I would say you are already driving the perfect DD

I did also a test drive with the GT-R and I think this car is such amazing, but I also was worried about the transmission and the warranty.

I want to drive my car hard without thinking about problems and I read to much bad feedback about the GT-R on diffrent boards.
So I kept my solid C63 and I'm still happy with it.
Maybe the C63 Coupe would be an option for the future

How about getting a CLK63 Black Series instead? They are around mid 60 thousands right now.
