I am planning on changing the two air filters of my C63 and I was wondering if there is a DIY guide available somewhere?

Is that what they call charcoal delete? Or are we suppose to replace the one removed with a K&N.
I have ordered a pair of BMC air filters according to BMC the C63 has an original air filter that limits the flow of air in order to limit the power of the engine so that it is not as performant as other 63 models. By fitting BMC filters they claim an increase in hp to 500hp

No offense to those who run BMC filters but they are overpriced IMO. I don't see why they are sometimes twice as much as K&N when the quality as far as I can tell is the same. And difference between brands of filters is minimum when it comes to performance especially with a 3500+ lbs vehicle.

I guess there statement is overexagerated, howver the BMC filters were cheaper then the K&N well thats at least the case here in EuropeOriginally Posted by cptdaz

K&N far exceeds other competitor filters. Just look at long term data and user reviews. They are far better made in my opinion than BMC ( I have had both). Also, they have a proven track record...
Cold start is a beast when you remove charcoal and replace with K&N, however all the crazy HP increase I am really not sure of. It is obvious that air flow is better and not as restricted (this a given) but if the end user can feel themselves being thrown back in their seat....I dunno about that...
Changing these specs adds to the 'Race Car" component of the car too...

I have the charcoal removed and filters replaced with aFe dry filters few hundred miles ago, and still no CEL (knock on wood). Did every thing I could to ensure that the airboxes are seated and sealed properly when I did the swap.

I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents on charcoal deletes. Having NOT removed the charcoal filters on my 09 C63, then getting my new C63C and driving it stock for 900 miles, then removing the filters today, the most noticeable change is the SOUND. It's amazing that the sound can improve so much with such a simple mod. To those who have changed air filters as well, is there whole other level of improvement to be had? Or is the major change noticed with just the charcoal deletes? I am very happy with this small mod.

Just this week I removed mine and switched to K&N. No CEL and it seems to have better throttle response.
Does anyone know if there is a part number to replace the charcoal filter or are these supposed to be in the car for its entire life? I'm thinking of buying the filters separately to save some money at service, but can't seem to find a part number for the charcoal part...

I'ma littel confused, so the video is of the so called charcoal airbox filter that dont do much of anything, so they can be removed with no problems, so there is another "real" air filter elsewhere?
