Ran into C4S
This morning, i was lined up next to a porsche C4S.
I see this guy time to time on my way to work.
The guy was trying to fish me the whole time this morning trying to get a little race going on but i refused to bite on it. It is a busy road and I have always seen a cop camping a mile down the road. As soon as light turned green, he took off full throttle and i stepped on the gas pedal up until 4500rpm in C mode which starts from 2nd gear. Even though i wasnt trying that thing was fast and sounded mean as he11 too. So his car is definitely modded for sure and now that i think about it, even if i gave it a try i dont think i would have pulled on this guy.
So stock to stock how does C63 hold up against C4S and lightly modded C4S?

You have that C4S beat in the HP game, but your biggest problem is launching from a dig. That C4S has no problem launching and using every HP available in it. You're severely traction limited.

Good news is it's hard to mod a Carrera S, aside from exhaust.
A C63 at least needs a tune to have a chance at a C4/2S.
The 2S is just as fast as a 4S, as they both get enough traction.
It depends a lot on the year as to how much power they have.
The carrera got serious in 09 [997.2] with PDK & DI.
That configuration is a rocket off the line.
997 and earlier Carrera S are slow.
If he is a stick, race him, especially if you have a tune.
Hopefully, its a 997.1 or earlier and you should win.

NA Porsches don't make much more power with bolt on mods. What the factory gives you is what you get. They will easily out handle you so don't go chasing him into a turn and expect to keep up, you'll end up in the weeds. From the dig he has a better chance with much better traction (provided he knows how to launch a stick without blowing up the clutch) and a C63 is basically a drift car from the dig. Also don't try to top end him because of your speed limiter.

Depends what year the C4S is ... if his is equipped with PDK, forget it from a light. Better traction due to all-wheel drive, less weight and superior transmission ... which he needs no skill with either ... using "race start".
From a roll it's a different story, especially if your car is tuned.
BTW, you mentioned it sounded mean ... he just flipped a switch on the dash to change the exhaust sound

I raced my brother's 07 997 C2S with my C55 and it was pretty close. Not much difference HP but more TQ in the C55. He had the 6spd in the Porsche. The cars were pretty neck and neck straight line performance wise. We were from a roll to. On the track the C2S would have smoked my C55. Porsches are the top of the performance line. IMHO

Thanks all for the comment.
I wasnt planning on modding this car because of warranty issue.
But now after reading all your comments, i def need a tune now.

Since you state it is a busy road, you will probably not be able to open it up and go beyond triple digit.
As many people stated, traction is our issue and from a dig, the P car has the edge and will keep it. From a roll, it will be close and whoever started first will probably be the winner.
With a tune, from a roll you should have the edge and after 100mph, you will pull even harder.
Hell, the little C can even compete with a 997 TT P car (not the latest). Before any one thinks I am dreaming, 3 C63s went to the 2010 Miami mile run and we were either the same or a bit faster than stock 997TT, CTS-Vs and Nissan GTR.

For sure the PDK Carrera S is no joke.
Here is a vid of one going against an V10 M5(we all know about their top end)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swKfFc1mBjo
and for fun, same car vs an E55

I had a 997S (not 997.2) before I got my C63.
I would not go back to a 911. The lack of torque and sensory feedback is a killer as far as I am concerned. The P car are sexier and grab more attention, that's for sure.
For a daily driver, the C puts a grin on my face. The P car is scalpel but did not do anything for me. The only P car I would consider is the Panamera Turbo. That car is amazing but different price league.
All 3 C63s were tuned (one of them was DadsC63 which at the time had headers and other goodies but no NOS). ET and MPH were better than competitors.

+1 I would take that C4S all day long over my car. The Porsche 911 is the one all car makers chase. Porsche... No Substitute!

But the AMG being 30 percent cheaper, rarer, and being faster made me chose the AMG. RMS problems also hurt the idea of a 996 as well. My next car will most likely be a P car. As they are faster, and RMS issues have been eradicated.

Don't get anything less than a 997.2 C2S or GTS.
Pass on the 4S, it just drains power and understeers (for girls who can't drive).
The 997.2 GTS is 408HP (as is a 997.2 C2S w/ Powerkit option).
The new 991 Carrera S is now 400HP.
When they get around to offering a 991 Powerkit option, perhaps 430HP.
Not bad for an NA 6 banger.
With that narrowed down just decide Manual or PDK

Even with a "mere" 350hp in a 2005 2S is able to run mid 12's@112 or so. And with the cost savings over the 997.2, leaves you a chance to buy an E55 lol.
The 4S would come in handy for those in the snow belt, who don't want a second car.
No, you just need a different model, such as the Panamera.
