BRAND NEW CAR GOT SCRATCHED UP :(
Hey friends,
I just wanted to share a horrible story, but with a great ending.
I just picked up my '12 C63 on Monday 1/30/12.
On Wednesday night, I noticed 3 fairly large "W" shaped scratches running up the hood of my car above the right head light (each scratch about 6" x 4"). I park my car at a busy parking lot in NYC. I am a monthly customer there, and I "take care" of the attendants, and I THOUGHT, they took care of my car. Apparently not the case. The guys there always park my car in the 1st spot, where the entrance is so they can keep an eye on it. Well, it turns out on Wed, I went to my car unexpectedly because I forgot something... And what is the guy doing? Leaning his dirty jeans, and his butt on the hood of my car. I was in a rush, so I just asked him not to do that, and rushed off. When I got home is when I noticed the SCRATCHES. I think it was a result of him doing this repeatedly being that all the scratches looked the same but in different areas. And to add insult to injury, I panicked when I 1st saw them, and tried to rub them out (idk what I was thinking) with the sleeve of my cotton thermal, hence causing several more hairline scratches. It was a nightmare.
In any event, I was so upset about it all night long thinking "Shoot, what do I do? Do I call an body shop for repainting? Do I try to touch it up? Do I try those pens that I see on infomercials?" Because I wasn't going to just leave it like that...
All said and done, I went to Auto Zone last night and bought Quixx Care Scratch Remover. At 1st, i was a little skeptical about it being that I am not mechanic nor do I know much about painting cars, especially using sandpaper on it, but after some thought and reading the instructions, I just took my chances. It was the BEST decision I ever could have made. The whole process took less than 15 minutes. Just cleaned the area, lightly sanded the scratches (they were only surface scratches that only penetrated the clearcoat, thank God), applied the base coat Quixx solution, rubbed it in vigorously for 2 minutes per scratch, then rinse with water, then applied the 2nd Quixx solution polisher, and Oh-WAH LA!!! GOOD as NEW!!! My wife and I were flabbergasted at the results.
(It also works on deeper scratches, you just need to apply touch up paint to the scratch and let it dry before the sanding process)
I just wanted to share this story in case one of you out there ran into a similar situation. I wish I had known about this stuff all my life, it's really an EXCELLENT product and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It only costed me $16 plus tax. And NO, I do not work for their company, Lol.
I actually even called Quixx Care USA to thank them. They were very pleased to hear my story.
Here is their site link in case you want to read up on their product, I am still wowed. http://www.quixx-usa.com/site/home/In:en
Good luck and thanks for reading
PS
I tried to take pictures of the before and after, but the lighting in my garage was horrible last night, and well, there aren't any scratches to take pictures of anymore! Lol... GREAT STUFF I'll tell ya

Why would you want your car in the 1st spot? As a monthly customer and a generous tipper, you should have at least gotten the spots on the lift away from the streets. I'm glad that your story had a happy ending, but I would still be pissed if I were you.

I would not be taking care of these guys anymore. And def not park in the first spot. Draw attention to the rest of the people who park there. Park in a corner only spot with only one car next to yours. Thats why i do at work and i park sort of diagonally so i'm further away from the one space that is next to mine.

I've gotten good results from Dr.ColorChip (http://www.drcolorchip.com/), plus no sanding needed.

But youre right, it's not. Especially because I think that people are prone to lay their stuff on top of my car, like a handbag or wtvr, while trying to find their money to pay the guy. I'm in a tough position being that there isn't another lot nearby. I've told the guy time and time again, "Please take extra special care of my car" (even when I had my e92 M3). He would always tell me people are always peeping in to my windows and asking all kinds of questions about whose car this is, or just checking it out... It's either I park it there, or in the street, where people REALLY don't give 2 sh*ts about anything and play bumper cars. It's really terrible out here.
At the end of the day, I expect minor stuff to happen, but those scratches were not the result of an accident. He was just being a d*ck and leaning up on my car thinking nothing of it. Hence, when I got there this morning, I parked it about 4 cars in, but now I have to worry about door dings from the vehicles next to me. They are monthly's like me, and take their keys with them, meaning they also enter their cars by themselves, and the spots are pretty tight. I guess I might just have to buy a "beater". But then, why did I get this car? I'm always working, so I really don't have time to enjoy her, unless I drive to and from work.
Thanks for your insight, and again, yeah.. thank God it wasnt worse.

And it's a NO WIN situation for me, if I'm yell or act up toward the guys, then I'm a bad guy, and then they reaLLy wont give a hoot about my car and who knows, prob bang it up on purpose. They are really dusty looking people who barely speak any English. He did apologize and told me he would do his best not to let anyone near my car. Thank God I have my keys at least. I don't want him even sitting in my car!!! Sometimes I see them sitting in other peoples cars witht he heat or AC on!!! it's terrible!!

Sorry to hear about your predicament. From the look of your first pics, I assumed you were parking by Jacob Javits. That's why I asked about the lifts. I would just recommend taking the bus in from Fort Lee (Cheaper, Faster and less headaches). I'm pretty sure it's not that much fun driving your gas guzzler 5mph up the Henry Hudson. Just save it for the evenings and weekends when you can really open it up!

Maybe you can buy some sort of cover you can fit whilst your car is parked to minimize scratches. You are in a tough spot given it is a new and special car.

Get a beater P car.
Something small will give you more room in your parking spot.
Plus it will be enjoyable enough for the commute.
Or, lease the best Mercedes for $100/mo .......The Smart Car.

Wow I'm glad there was a happy ending but damn dude, I'd be majorly pi$$ed off if I was you. Infact I am wondering if I read it right, some guy was sitting on your bonnet? He got away lightly!

Not some guy, the effing parking attendant. The so called guy who is supposed to be watching/guarding my car. I think he's trying to "front" like its his, when people are walking by or something. Smh

if its just the clear, they can color sand it for you...... if you dont know how to do this take it to a body shop and have them do it as you will burn the paint.
