Thumbs up

Wow! nice CLK C63.

I was concerned that in the past that Mercedes had many more problems per vehicle. It does seem however, that the c63 as of late and possibly since 2009, as well as being hand built with the model W204, hasn't had too many issues or even any issues, in some cases.

I have always like the, " european look," like the square and chisled BMW's early on. The Merc', it appears, has tried to balance aerodynamics with a strong and agressivefront end that is more traditionally squared and manly front end. (I don't mean Manly in the Male or Female sense. A Strong Women can be,"Manly" as well...)

The Lexus, on the otherhand, with it's rounded front end, eschews more traditional looks for a soft and rounded front end who's lines, that most of us turn around to look back at as we are walking away from our Ride, seem's to fall off into oblivion. This front end does not exude confidence or strength.

I do think that the C63, IS less formal and more sporty than models of the past. I for one like the styling of the 2009-2011 models a bit more than the 2012. I also like the Navigation screen in the earlier models. The one that pops up seems to have a larger screen. I do like the steering wheel of the 2012 though...lol! Now all i need is an Alcantara roof aftermarket kit...Let the mods begin...!

Same here. There seems to be less of a visual difference between the c63 and it's lesser c class cousins in the 2012 line up.

Disagree with the feel entirely. I have owned 2 M3's, E46 and E36 plus 3 earlier 328I's and the new BMW's while steering perhaps slightly sharper and turning as well they have gone down in feel. In the C63 I feel better connected , more the old BMW's used to be. I have never been Benz fan but they have finally won me over.

Not even close. I have both.

I felt the need to add something, I have been to the track , both with my C63 and earlier M3's and yes the BMW's as everybody knows have a slight advantage with cornering, BUT that has nothing to do with the fun factor in dd driving. The C63 is more fun and more involving, you can actually feel the car connecting to the road with a nice weight to it and actually still responsive and direct. Having said that and admittedly a small minus for to slushbox coming from a hardcore manual guy. This is my first ever auto, BUT the slush is not bad at all and with a little tweak from the Eurocharge guys shifts are really pretty darn fast plus you turn the beast into monster. Would still prefer the Dclutch but the rest of the car in my opinion is a better package compared to the BMW as a drivers car.
O and before i forget, this thing is a lot more fun doing fast corners and a little sliding , try that with your little Bimmer :-)

My buddy has an E36 and an E46 M3 (with a blower on it now) and he still gets giddy grins even when he's in the passenger seat of my C63. He went to a dealer a few weeks ago and came back saying something about needing to off load the E36 and how nice the C63 was.

For me - no question, the C63 looks like automotive ****, sounds like it and drives like it too. The M3 just looks kinda like a 3 series that wants to be a better person in it's next life.

My lease came up before the 2012 models came out for the C63. I didn't like the coupe version as much and I didn't want to extend the lease on my C63 sedan and wait for my dealership to get me another one. I didn't really another sedan either. Then I sort of warmed up to the looks of the M3 over time and just decided to give the car a try. I really liked the C63.

The M-DCT on the M3 is pretty damn wonderful as far as I am concerned. I'm really enjoying it.

I don't know what I'll get next most likely it will be the F32 M3 or the upcoming C63 redo. If MB doesn't offer a transmission along the lines of the BMW's M-DCT then it will be hard to go back.

I completely understand your perspective on this one... the only thing I really miss from the M3 is the DCT. What an amazing transmission and the C63's biggest performance deficit by comparison. After spending as much time in the C63 coupe as I have, if MB put wider tires on it (yes, I'm a broken record) and had a proper DCT transmission the car would be near perfect IMO. I can fix the tire issue but not the DCT.

Listening to the transmission deficits that the C63 has vs the M3.....I have not driven the DCT but it must be amazing. My 09 C63 wasn't bad transmission wise, so I thought. My new 2012 C63 is 50% better. The new MCT is soooo much better than the previous model. Not only does it shift quicker, it holds gears longer, finds the proper gear better, and has an additional sport variation (S+) of the autotrans. I really want to drive the M3 just to experience the DCT and see what I'm missing!

The DCT is amazing. The MCT transmission is very capable, no doubt, but it is slower and less responsive. The DCT is instant (and I mean instant) upshifts and downshifts. It allows for rapid multiple gear shifts (this is what I miss the most... being able to click three times and downshift three gears instantly). It feels so responsive it feels completely like a manual transmission without the clutch and completely connected to the car. I know you can "hold" the downshift paddle in the C63 and the car will drop multiple gears but it is actually going into each gear. Going from 5th to 2nd means holding down the paddle and waiting for the car to quickly go 5... 4... 3... 2. In the M3 it would be 3 quick clicks and 5... 2.

I only really miss the DCT when driving the C63 aggressively when responsiveness and flexibility (multiple shifts instantly) are important. Around town, no big deal and the MCT is great. Other than the DCT when driving aggressively, the M3 is not missed.

I'm pretty damn excited about the next C63/M3. It's going to be fun.

If I had gotten the M3 first and gotten into a C63 now I'd probably still be salivating over the 6.2 liters of perfection. But, I did the reverse and I'm appreciating the M3's strengths.

Hell, Lexus might surprise us with the next IS-f variant. I'm not holding my breath over that but competition is great for all of us.

Cars.
The M3's DCT is as good as a 2012 GT-R's. Praise does not get any higher then that.
