Ran at Famoso drag strip this weekend...11.5 @ 122mph
I went to Famoso Raceway's first test n' tune event of the year and it was really crowded, so only got a 4 runs in all day. Attached are a couple of the slips, with my best ET being 11.5 and best trap of 122.1. Mods are in sig, running 93 octane (mix of Chevron 91 pump and VP 100), Nitto 555R's, and full interior. Pretty obvious I still need some work on the launch.
Can't wait for the Airstrip event this coming weekend!

It's a 91 octane tune. I always mix in a few gallons of 100 octane when I go to the track just to be on the safe side and ensure full timing is run.

Whats going on with you west coast guys. You figure with you mods in +500 DA and 35% humidity you would be running better times. Is the track prep bad there?
Still a solid time but I figure you would be putting down very low 11's with those mods.

Too loud and didn't like the fact that the motor mount heat shields needed to be removed.
I actually thought it was a pretty decent time considering the track location and poor 60ft. Should equate to 11.3's with a low 1.7x 60ft. Hopefully with more practice I can prove it. Also, test n' tune events don't help with all the waiting in line and high under-the-hood temps.
What is the best time anyone's run at this track with a Stage 2 C63? I think Jeremy from OE Tuning has run his car with similar mods at Famoso, but I don't recall what his best pass was. Maybe he'll chime in.

Anyway that is a good number, not great but an improved 60' will yeild better results, but I'm sure that was the reason petro switched the larger primaries lost some low end torque, correct me if I'm wrong

wait a minute...........
the MHP headers were too loud ? you are telling me that running the MBH headers with catless mids and x-pipe are not as loud as the MHP
these 2 videos i found sound pretty close....i think any header/catless mid combo is going to sound about the same with the oem exhaust . an axle-back exhaust fixes that issue

You installed found they were to loud then removed them and put mbh on, petro mbh headers were just as loud as mhp.

Yeah, you're probably right about the bigger primaries on the MBH costing me a bit of torque down low, but I would think they make up for that with improved top end. I suppose only a back-to-back comparison test at the track/dyno would show for sure.
Since the MHP header trial Andy and I aren't on good terms due to a misunderstanding, but I would be willing to try his headers again if he ever gives me the chance, as I've gotten over the noise and MM heat shield concerns.

The time is decent. I didn't notice the 60ft. I wish one of you guys would come to the EC for a compare one day. The DA seems to be there for you guys are the tracks really that bad?
On the contrary though I believe its closer than I am thinking. Maybe I am being a little to critical. I remember Petro running 11.4's with the MBH headers at ATCO in +1000 DA with the same mods as you.

You find the MBH headers to be quieter? Did you dyno compare the two? Im curious for my own purchase.

Come on Jim, cut the drag newb some slack...I've probably only got a total of 10 1/4mi passes to my name with this car. I'll get better and make you proud one day.

You have more passes than me in 2012 already!
Keep at it.

Maybe I'm confusing you with someone else but weren't you the one who dyno-tested against/with an MHP-equipped C63 and the (curves)(power) were virtually identical? Apologies again if I'm mixed up as to who it was...

Yes, that was me, but at the time the MHP car had 100 cell cats on. Since then he removed the cats and installed a custom x-pipe. He recently went back to the same dyno and made better power, so now I'm the one who's behind.

Once you practice the launch, your ET's will fall. What I found worked best for me with the MBH set-up was to launch no higher than 1000 rpm. Before launching, gas it and hold the brake for a split second and if you time it right the car will slingshot out of the hole. It takes practice but when it's done right you will know, trust me.
What was the DA?
I was at MIR on Saturday, managed a best of 11.33 @ 125. It was my first time there and I really screwed up, no icing the intake, no race fuel and 3/4 tank of gas. Some real rookie mistakes but I had fun.

How much gas u had in the tank

Its actually pretty solid numbers for this track. Unlike ATCO, you hardly see any record numbers generated at Famoso. You were trapping as high or higher than the 2012 GTR black edition. And the GTR guy knew how to drive, with this 11.06 ETs.
So the GTR was trapping 121mph compared to the 122-124mph recorded by GTRs at some other tracks.
The GT500 I ran did a 12.6 at 111mph
The SRT8 Challenger ran a 14.x at ~98mph.
Its almost always that way at Famoso, so you did well with a 11.5x. You are already nudging at the top 10 C63 ET listing on this forum, and did it full weight...so not shabby at all. Either way, had a blast.
Did some highway runs with a Blk Shelby, Mustang GT, and an E55 on the way back from the races to cap off the night!

I started with only about 1/8 tank.
On my last couple runs I had some major shifting delay (power would cut out and jerk me forward, then suddenly the car would come alive again) on the 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts despite being in Sport mode with Traction control fully off. I really think this was due to fuel starvation since I could not repeat this incident on the way home doing some testing after a fill-up. Anyone else ever experience that at the strip?

And great job setting that 135i stock turbo record with the 11.25 @ 122.8 mph!!! Not sure I would have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes. Since we didn't get a chance to run side-by-side at the track, I hope to get the opportunity this weekend at the airport.
