How to pull off in 2nd gear
I have tried just about every setting and configuration but I just can't seem to figure out how to pull off in second gear while in M mode.
Pulling off in second gear in C, S and S+ mode isn't a problem, but I really prefer driving it in M and using the paddles for full control. My previous M3 with DCT had a perfect gearbox, I know, I know, DCT can't be compared to MCT but this gearbox is really taking the huge smile off my face.
Whenever it goes under 8mph, the gear drops from 2nd, to 1st, even though I haven't downshifted.
Anyone have any idea or should I just learn to live with it?
I think in over 90% of normal driving situations, pulling off in second gear is much more beneficial to prevent wheelspin and get the power down gently, especially on UK roads in winter!

Yup, I guessed it downshifted below a certain RPM. Kinda sucks, but I guess I'll learn to live with it.
Such a pity you can't fully control it in manual. Driving it in C mode with the paddles is fine but it really does have a mind of its own in what gear to put it in. Yesterday I was pulling off in D6 in C mode with ease!?

When it's in C mode and it displays D6, you're not pulling away in 6th gear. Change your screen to AMG mode and it'll tell you the real gear that it's in. I'm pretty sure that the D6 is the gear that it'll revert back to once it is up to speed.

Just because it shows D6 in C or S mode does not necessarily mean the car is in 6th gear.
When in S or C mode, if you use the paddle or knob, it will switch to whatever gear you asked but if you slow down, it may show D6 but you will actually be in a different gear.
I know this is confusing.
For example, let's say you manually shift to D5 and come to stop. What this means to the computer is that it will still shift normally (1s to 2nd to 3rd back or even back to 2nd) until it hits 5th where it will hold that gear until you manually shift up or down.
I know this does not solve your issue but at least I hope it clarifies a bit how the transmission works.

Very simple...put the car in C, downshift to 1st and then upshift to 2nd...you have to let the car get above about 2,000 rpm before you can floor it, otherwise it will "kick-down" to 1st. once you move off the line you have to switch it to S+ or M immediately because the shift time will be much slower once you hit 3rd gear. We all know that it doesn't take long in our cars
