So close, yet SO far...

So I've had my C63 for 27 days now, and have managed to put only 326 miles on her...(she had 99 on her when I picked her up, which was a lot IMO)
I am SO tempted to MASH the GAS every time I get in her, but I hold off...
At this rate, I wont be at 1000 until the end of APRIL!!!
I guess patience is a virtue??
I'm sure a bunch of you can relate to this "break in" period...
Just sharing.. btw, I LOVE her to DEATH!!!...So much more than my e92M3. Completely forgot about BMW PERIOD
Good wknd everyone!!

Steel Grey Metallic C63!!
Your car is a lease that you intend to return. Why do you care? You're allotted 7500 miles a year on your lease. Go enjoy it!

Wow.. Great memory bro! You have a good point, however, I am highly considering to buy it out at the end of the lease...
That said, are you suggesting to just "screw" the break in period and drive the crap out of her? I recall reading some posts where people totally disregarded the break in period and have no problems... I just don't want to screw anything up.

But thanks on the "Enjoy it!"... Seriously, wth is my problem. LOL

The idea is to enjoy driving it. Take it for a drive! You can put 500 miles in a day if you try.

i've had 2 c63... 2009, drove out of the dealer, got on the highway, after it was warmed up, went full throttle... although i was shaking for the next 15 minutes, car was fine... maintained on schedule, although i did an oil change at 1000 just in case... went 40k plus miles in 2 years

2010, pretty much the same, not at 40k yet... almost at 35k

This will be interesting for you

Discussion about break in period on MB forum UK.

http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w204...myth-fact.html

and a link how - to - break - in 'guide'

I have asked this my dealer when I picked up my car and he confirmed basicly what the article says.

im at 792 miles and it is killing but after reading this im pretty sure im going to gun it when i get in her later XD

ahhaa but then again i am close to that 1000 maybe i could try and wait XD

i guess i have the same dilemma as op everyone has told me different stories some say run it hard so the rings place well and others say stay below 3000 rpms until 1000 miles i have gone above 3000rpm twice to far but only to 5000 by accident (and when i say accident i mean to hear the awesome noise- couldnt control myself) and i havent even taken it off of comfort mode XD

i do have a seperate question does the exhaust note sound different in sport and sport plus mode cause i cant stop listeing to how awesome this engine is?

...sorry for the rambling

Wow, its a lease and you are still concerned about "proper" break in??? You are a nice guy aren't you lol.

PS, I just did a compression test 180-185lbs on all 8 cylinders. Car barely burns any oil at all compared to some of things I read on here.. I put it in S mode ESP off and went sideways leaving the dealer.. This car hasn't even been driven in C mode or with ESP on ever..

Don't be scared to drive it, you got warranty if it blows up.

+1

My 2009 was "properly" broken in and it burned a lot of oil

My 2010 had a tune on it since 500 miles and while I didnt beat on it I didnt drive it soft either and it doesnt burn any at all.

I feel where you are coming from but you cant screw over all dealers can you?

Sure I believe some dealers will tell you bs just to sell things to you or whatever but lucky for me my local dealer is also a acquaintance of mine.
So I believe him on hes word, although thats me ofcourse and doesnt mean anything to the rest

anyway Im not here to discuss wether hes right or not I just wanted to show you guys an interesting thread and a article.

Whatever you do with it is really up to you but cant go wrong by just reading it right?

A couple of fast cars.
Dynoed my car at 300 miles (5600 on car now). Just had my oil changed a couple days ago put 3k miles and 3 or 4 track days on the oil that was changed at about 2k miles, during that time period I only burned about 1/2 a quart and I drive hard everywhere all the time, remember this included some track days.
