How much it would cost to paint a 2010 C63 ?

Hi,

I'm working on getting a new car, it's probably gonna be a 2010 C63 and I was wondering if I can have the car painted to the color I want without any problem.

The color I want is white matte, and from what I've seen, it's not going to be easy to find... So I'm planning to get a regular white and then have it painted.. I don't know if I can do that though.. and what's the cons If I decide to do it...

Basically, what I wanna know, is that how much it would cost, and where should I do it.. at the dealer or at a body shop ?... It have been only a year that I'm in America and my english is not perfect... so I'm having hard time finding information that I need.

Thanks all for your answers.

Buy a metallic white C63. Wrap it with clear matte. Cheaper, and no hit on resale.

+1

The vinyl wraps have come a long way in quality and are really the best choice over a complete repaint for the factors stated above.

By any chance, do you have any idea about how much that would cost ?

So basically, the car will look brand new, no one can know that I wrapped it ? Do you think that it's a good idea ?

Thanks guys for your answers.

Lo no, I meant, is it a good idea to get a matte white instead of a regular metallic white ?

Another vote for wrapping the car vs painting.

Look at Pertplus' car.
His car was silver and was wrapped in satin transparent vinyl which makes the original paint of the car matte.

I'd still be curious to know how much it would cost to repaint the car.. Wraps are great for a visual aspect.. however, some of us live in places (Washington DC) where the roads suck and the car is constantly being tagged by rocks and crap from the road, and the million dump trucks who cannot be bothered to cover their loads correctly and dump crap all over your car (does not matter what lane your in when a stone drops, hits the ground and shoots off in a random direction)..

My hood looks like a freaking war zone, and there are random paint chips around the sides of my car too (not too many, but too deep to just polish out).. the only body panel that is unscathed is my trunk...

Wrap on my CLK BS costed $4500. Full Repaint on my M3 convertible, $12,000.

The wrap protects you from Rock chips. To repaint the front end properly, it's about the same cost as a full wrap. I'm from Calgary, and we have insane amounts of rocks sprayed on the roads over the winter. It so bad that we replace our windshields yearly and insurance for windshield is non existent.

The only downside to wrapping a calcite white car with matte clear is that it won't look great. The calcite white is very "creamy"; you won't get the vivid white "storm trooper" look.

$12000 for a complete paint job is insane

i had my CLK430 painted dupont hot hues "snowstorm white" and even got the lips of the wheels to match with the same color . they stripped the car to bare metal and removed all the glass and mouldings and basically started from scratch....and that only cost me $6000 . i can also assure you that there isn't a flaw anywhere in the paint

Yeah, people always think I got my car painted. I will say depending on quality of the material and installer, for an entire car, you are looking anywhere in the range of $3k-$7k (especially if they are wrapping and sealing everything so there is virtually no visible lines). I say that because I have been quoted in the high range and the low range, so it really depends on who you are going to.

Your car looks insane, it makes me wonder if I really want a white car, specially after YYZ-E55 said...

Would black be better ? And why is it that hard to find an OEM matte C63 ?

Not sure if black would be "better" since there are tons of black matte cars out there. Not sure either if you would want an OEM matte C63 considering the pain in the *** it is to protect that paint. Haven't seen a matte white merc yet, and curious to see how pics of it would show on the internet (vs. in person).

Thanks for the compliment...my suggestion is you get a color you like regardless and if it works out with a matte wrap, then cool. You can always have them cut a swatch and test it on your car. Otherwise, if you grow tired of the wrap, then youre stuck with a car whose color you dont like.

A real paint job for the color that you want really involve removing the engine and all the accesories for painting the engine bay, it involves the removal of all the interior as well. You are talking about $15000 and up.

You are prrobably thinking of a superficial "MAACO" sort of speak paint job where they just paint the outside. There is a whole lot more involve in painting a car. To me is never worth it unless ytou are willing to pay mega money for as job well done.

Well, I mean I don't wanna paint the WHOLE car, I don't care about the engine bay... specially that if I'm gonna buy this car.. I won't keep more than 2 years ! It's not worth it for me...

I just want the exterior paint to look matte.. so if I get a metallic white c63, I'll just have it wrapped it like the people above suggested and save myself some bucks...

Yup - I repainted my M3 after it was keyed. The same-color paint job was 6k and include removing all trim and glass, dropping the bumpers as well as taking off the hood and trunk lid for separate spraying and baking. A color sand also to finish it off. The job was better than factory IMO...much less of that infamous BMW orange peel. Allowing for inflation my guess is that job would be 8k today.
