2011 SVT Raptor
Hi im new and drive a FORD :)

So some history on me. I owned a e92 M3 for 2 years. I got a smoking deal on it, I paid 62k OTD cash for it new in 2010. I drove it two years, and decided I wanted a SVT raptor..I have two big dogs and am pretty active so I thought it was a good move. The sticker on raptors or 54ish, and the dealer took my M3 as a straight trade no $$ out of my pocket.

I have yet to take it off road, I have put the dogs in it 3-4 times, and have taken it to the mountains once. Needless to say I have hardly put it to use. I have owned the car 5 months and while the car is paid off I am paying $150 in gas every week and a half. I am averaging 8mpg and this monster has a 36 gallon tank. I live in Socal and see no end in the crazy gas price rising.

I miss my m3 terribly and have always lusted over the c63. I was thinking on trading in the raptor on a new 2012 and having a less than $300 dollar car payment, and hopefully save some coin on gas. I know its not a gas sipper but doubling my gas mileage would make me smile Thoughts on this? Dealer is offering me 51 for raptor.

How much are you guys paying for 2012's? Thoughts on pre-owned? Is a 30k mile c63 from 2009 a good option?

Also wifey is expecting our first baby. Is this thing good with kids, or would the raptor be better?

I test drove the 2012 yesterday and I still have a semi . I thought I'd come here and get a level headed opinion. I tend to think with my **** like most guys.

Thanks for the help guys. Im Steve BTW HB, CA

if you test drove the 2012 you may be disappointed at the shifting on the pre-2012s. I have a friend who has the 2012 model and had a 2008 model tell me that the gear shifts are night and day difference.

A sedan is clearly your best bet for the child. The C63 can be quiet tam when cruising around with the fam in comfort mode.

I have an 09 and shifting is fine. The MCT is obviously better, but its not the end of the world. If you go with an 09 get something with warranty or extended warranty for piece of mind.

I hope you're not expecting better gas mileage. This certainly isn't a car for that.. 6.3 Litre.. sucks it down pretty good.

Would you recommend working with fletcher jones or MBZ of laguna niguel?

haha, I don't DD my car, so when I drive it, I drive it a little hard, I think I get 8-12MPG. Fletcher Jones for sure, their service is un-matched (in my experience).

With a child on the way, I'd go with the C63. It's more practical and much better as a DD. Keep in mind that the mpg will be better in the C63 but not THAT much better. You're also going to be paying more per gallon, since the Raptor runs on 87, and you need 93 for the C63 (or I guess 91 since you're in CA).

Welcome to the other dark side. The C63 is unmatched, IMHO. So go for it. I would definitely make it a point to get the Raptor off road before you sell it - it's made to jump.
