I think that you watch too much CSI Miami. On serious note thanks for the tip.MBWorld Fanatic!
Well my AFR monitor has a warning about that for its Bosch O2 sensor and a cap to place on it when not in use. Just trying to help bud.

Swap the O2 sensors and see if you get the same errors on bank 2(driver side). If you do than it's an O2 sensor.
Not sure if this is an O2 sensor though. Everytime I had a faulty sensor the car would idle and ride a little rough but was never undriveable. This reminds me of HHughes's thread about misfiring and throwing codes. His problem was solved by changing plugs if I remember correctly.

I had similar problem, turned out to be exhaust cam solenoid failure on one cylinder bank (stuck in one position). Fixed under warranty despite headers.
I didn't cover much ground today. I just found ourt that the dealer sells the crank position sensor for $63 plus tax and the front o2 sensors at $330 each plus tax and rear o2 sensors at $157 each(take note on the pricing folks!).

Front o2's at AutohausAZ

I bought one from them. Works great.

Actually I had 2 separate but similar issues about a year apart. The first one matched your symptoms exactly including the unburnt fuel smell. Dealer replaced the cam position sensors under warranty but problem remained. One of the codes stated that the crank position was implausible relative to the exhaust cam. The cam positions were "relearned" and car was fine.
The next issue had similar codes regarding misfires on cylinders 1,3 and 4. Ended up being the upstream O2 sensor but the plugs on that side were fouled beyond salvage as well.
I would switch the left and right sensors as others have said and see what happens. If the misfires remain on the passenger bank, you have a cam or crank sensor issue or the cam positioning has to be re- taught. If the problem follows the 02 sensor then you know what to do. If you use race gas frequently this is more likely. Don't be surprised if the problem goes away for a while after making the switch but comes back a few days later.
Good Luck with the resolution and relax cause it's not any major malfunction.

Does anyone knows where this crankshaft position sensor is located? I read on the other car subforums that someone did his on his CLS 550 AMG with just one single tool and took him about 20-25 minutes.
If I can have someone give me a clue on where this sensor is located that would be awesome.

Is there a blow-up diagram of this engine anywhere? If so, you should see the CPS somewhere behind the crank pulley. It should be easy to reach.Originally Posted by C63newdude

edit: In case the above is not clear the CPS is externally mounted and is reading the speed from behind the crank pulley.
Hey there,
Did you guys manage to figure out the issue for the car? My car is having the same problem as well. https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ight-help.html

I sold the car shortly after that. My CEL were related to bad gas and heat. CEL happened when I was driving in normal conditions all the time(not driving it hard).
As far is the last CEL, it was a simple fix, just like someone anticipated, it was the cam position sensor that had to "learn all positions".
I am driving a CLS 550 now.
