Chicago area - anyone hitting this event?

I'm thinking of hanging out there Saturday morning, but can't find the actual event times? Is anyone else in the area attending?

I ran this event last year, well run event. I am not running this one becuase I will be running in the Optima USCA event at Road America in Wisconsin all weekend. They just announced a fall Wanna Go Fast event at the same airport. Registration for that event opens in July I believe. I am most likely going to run my CLK at that event.

It will go over 200 in the 1/2 for sure. I did several 1/2 mile evants with the car last year and it was running 187mph in the 1/2 but now I have about 350-300 more hp than I did last spring plus much better suspension that will allow me to get on full throttle much earlier 
I might be running the Michigan Mile in a few weeks, i ran it last year with my C and went 194, CLK should do at least 225 in that event.

Well a last minute change of plans and the call of rain up near Road America has prompted me to skip the Optima USCA event and do this event. I made a few calls yesterday and got a spot for this event. I will be running this event tomorrow (Saturday).

...not to mention the hotel situation up at road America was a joke due to the Nascar race being up there and I was not thrilled about the shortened track configuration for the event. They took out all the high speed and big braking areas where my car would have shined, forcing us to run the bike chicane
.....and how can you even call it Road America with no Turn 5????

My buddy Asad will be out there with his Weistec E63S...I hope AMS has the sack to line up their E63S against him so the world can see what really happens when their AMG's line up against a Wesitec car.

......well AMS had some excuse about a tire problem on their E63S lol. 
They had excuses after this event last year as well. Maybe they should just stick to tunning JDM and Nissan products.

^^^ I think that in my humble opinion you need to look at things from a different perspective. What I mean with this is that AMS is a reputable company that offers Mercedes Benz products as well as many many other car manufacturers aftermarket parts.
I see Weistec as a specialized shop for Mercedes. Weistec does well on what they do but like I said, Weistec is focused and specialized on Mercedes while AMS offers world class performance on many different cars.
I am myself a customer of AMS, they offer world leading aftermarket parts on some new iconic cars that I had back then. I don't think that AMS is interested on a d-ick contest at this time, they already offer great quality products and because they are into multiple car platform I think they might or might not have the quickest Benz in the world but honestly that is secondary to their business (I think).
AMS already had a few world records on many other cars. I am not trying to stir things up, I am just saying lets give them break or the benefit of the doubt and in my opinion is better to not speculate. I personally have no doubt that if they want to built the worlds quickest and fastest Mercedes that they have the technology, experience and resources to do so.
On a different note, I applaud the achievements done by Weistec for the Mercedes community, is nothing short of amazing. Cheers!

That is what I call selling smoke. Good for Mr Asad, I am happy for him, I just don't think that AMS necessarily have on their agenda winning, they might be willing to participate and have the chance to improve their product by doing some further R&D.

I will be out there again tomorrow, and I beleive the Weistec E63 will be as well maybe they rectified their tire issue.

People are not idiots and people can read between the lines. I got 20 text messages and/or PMs today with people wanting to know if either lined up one of my cars or Asad lined up his E63S against the AMS E63S. They all laughed and called BS when I told them of the "tire issue".
One more thing, dont tell me AMS is not into winning, they had 20 cars out there today. This event was a big deal for them in their own backyard an hour from their shop. Their E63 sure looked pretty, every time I walked or drove past they had a kid polishing it lol...maybe its just a trailer queen becuase I never saw it so much as start up or idle and I was parked two trailers down from it.

AMS E63S made a pass, 156.4mph. Weistec E63S went 159.9mph. Not too far off but the Weistec car is running stock turbos. It's early so we will see what else it can do today.

This is a cool event, some fast cars, Heffner tt Viper went 210, AMS Alpha 16 went 212, crap ton of cars running over 200mph....should have brought the CLK.It's a hot one out here 3900 DA
