Engine for next C63
my guess it would be more 470 and 500 in turbo form.
Thing is that the NA/s are still very competitive but the C is one of their best sellers and the C63 especially on the AMG brand and with that volume of sales they HAVE to save on MPG to help curb the US MPG numbers. SO they have to do a form of Turbo one way or another

Upgraded turbos, intercooler, different crank for a change in displacement maybe. Now its a 4.8L TT making north of 450hp with great gas mileage to boot.
Would differentiate enough from the non AMGs, as well as enough from the big boys. I would bet even with the modifications to the 4.7 it would be cheaper than the 5.5. I read an article that the reason they stuck with the 6.2 was the cost of the 5.5 Bi Turbo would have increased the price out of segment.
We will see though.
Cheers, Pickles.
N/A for the C55 instead of blown like its bigger brothers.
The current C63 has an entry level 451hp-600Nm and it replaced the C55 with 362hp-510Nm, an 89hp increase.
If they’ve pumped up the performance by that much once, they may be prepared to go turbo and do it again.
They get the FI benefits plus a big bag full of sales.
Face it, when ordering the car if you had a choice between the poor man’s N/A or a detuned twin turbo setup similar to what the big boys are playing with, what horse would you want to be on?
AMG has already shown they are prepared to make changes to hardware and tunes to differentiate between models. They may be prepared to continue with this strategy with smaller turbos and such.
IMO turbos would be the big marketing win, customers will want them to keep with what the opposition is offering. FI everything is becoming the norm these days.
As sad as the thought of losing the sound of the current engine is, I’ll learn to live without the glorious 6.2 symphony just as I have learnt to live without a manual transmission.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I've driven the new E63 and CLS63. They're awesome.. I feel MB will make a compelling case to switch to the new vehicle once it comes out. Until then... lots of downshifts and burnouts in my C63!
What I'd like is the option of a true luxury package. Leather dash, carbon fiber and brushed aluminum everywhere. I would pay for the option of a completely bespoke interior like porsche does.
We keep buying these cars.. the public's preference will never change. The HP wars will continue until government legislation changes the rules for all manufacturers.

The MCT is the Achilles heel of this car, I think. A DCT would significantly improve response.
