hey guys.. new to the brand, teach me the errors in my ways :)
Hey,
Fluffybunnies here from South Africa.
I've recently bought a 2010 C63 AMG which I'm absolutely loving.
Having predominantly owned AWD's and still currently own a track evo, the idea of RWD made me somewhat apprehensive. AWD's, and in my honest opinion the Evo is one of the most forgiving cars on the track.. hands down.
My concerns of seeing the c63 badge coming up to greet me while mid corner where soon put to rest when I attended our local version of the advanced driving course. What an AMAZING day!!!
The new 2012 C63 AMG with all the bells and whistles was beyond all expectations in grip, performance, handling... etc etc...
Granted, a good 30 odd seconds slower lap time than that in my Evo.. but they're worlds apart.
I was really impressed with the car overall, all the creature comforts I've grown to love, but was well blown away when I put it on the track.
..as the hamster from top gear would say... "why would you want a car that's constantly trying to kill you?" .... and this is why
I'm still reading through the manual.. if you can believe it.
First time I've ever owned a merc... I have so much to learn lol

oh haaai
I'm a Cape Town girl through and through,.. now living in JHB.. urgh.
PE has 2 things going for it,.. it's close to JBay and has Aldo Scribante
Not to hijack my own thread, but how long you been over in the states for?
I've travelled all over the states for work and pleasure,.. loved every moment of it, from the places to the people.
Yeah, I honestly did not buy it for that.. the plan was to keep the evo as a track car and use the merc as my daily,... but am feeling incredibly stupid for not realising just how awesome it is on the track.
The way it blips going into turn 1 at Kyalami ... awesome. Of course when I felt it starting to slide into turn 4, I thought to myself if I have to correct now... we're all going to die
Brilliant! Thank you

I discovered limp mode when the oil temp reached 136+ degrees.. while I was in the zone
Short clip of me doing the first few corners of Kyalami, after a rude awakening of having no power

Been in the States since 1996. And yes.. PE is a horrible place.. it is where people go to die (an old age home), everyone I know has dispersed to various EU, AU and US locations... And I had to google Aldo Scribante.... I don't think that existed when I was living in SA. If I was to stay, I would have ended up in CT, used to go every year, usually Hermanus just before, or Muizenberg with family.
Well as you can imagine, it's gotten worse in SA.. but what can you do

Hermanus (and sometimes Kleinmond) was for organized events of lots of kids (not court mandated either.. ).. a Jewish Summer camp would be the best way to describe it

You need to feel 21 again... I regularly try to feel one
I remember those gymkhana events.. or at least, hearing about them lol
Maybe there wasn't much happening in PE.. but tell me you didn't..

I did not own a car when I lived in PE.. I used to hitch hike around (back when it was safe), or catch rides with my friends.. being an unemployed college student did not really help being able to own a car, let alone a nice one.. Yet I always managed to be able to get booze when I needed it..

all the cars had cams mounted under the mirror and we received copies at the end of the day. The app used carpa120 or something, and shows the speedo in the app, but wasn't able to export it.

Welcome to the Evo/C63 owners club! LOL!
I agree with you on the Evo being at home at the track. I have yet to bring the C63 to our local track, as I'm still breaking her in. I'm apprehensive, but at the same time, curious as how she'll do.

Oh wow, that's a pretty awesome garage you have there.
A white MR.. very very nice sir.
We only have a handful of Evo's in this distant land of mine.
Mitsubishi decided to only bring in 25 8's and 9's I believe, all gsr's. We don't even have the X yet, and when it does finally land, you'll be able to buy a brand new 320 coupe for the same price just about
Mine's still pretty normal compared to what some of the other owners have done to theirs.. it's stage 1 basically, but is absolutely insane around the track.. i love it. no really.. I get a warm feeling in my chest everytime I go to the track haha
Well my two cents worth, you've got the 2012 C63 which I took out at Kyalami on Friday.
If it's got the AMG sports pack and LSD, I can tell you that I was so surprised at the amount of grip it had and the responsiveness of the car.
I was still half a minute slower on the same track than I am in my Evo... which is about 3 years in track racing time, but honestly, WOW.
Try not to laugh too much at this pic... I was sponsored, hence the stickers.
They're not always on the car.. but here's me at Kyalami
I'll spare you guys from the poor sound quality of my video's apparently
I've been going through so many threads on this forum, and I'm floored at the mods that go on with the C63's. It's a whole new world for me
and here's mah C63
it's got a ribbon on.. aawwww lol

my wife bananas! :D
Congrats on your c63!
I think you'll really enjoy the car. It'll definitely be different than what you are used to and imo that is a good thing. We gotta try and experience as much as we can!

I miss my Evo. I had a 9 and an X but could not keep both with the AMG. Now I'm left with a bunch of diecast Evo's. I am looking for a miata to hopefully turn into a track machine.

Thanks FungAMG
@izzyAMG, I advertised the Evo for sale when I took delivery of the C63, but reckon when the ad cycle ends in a week, I'll probably end up keeping it and going full track.
Everyone seems to regret selling their Evo's,.. and reckon, I will too.
Maybe when I'm wealthy enough to have numerous track cars and dailydrivers, I'll take the C63 out, .. but untill then, I'm happy to race someone else's C63 around a track, with my Evo closely behind it

Wow, looks like Evos are rare in South Africa!
Clean well kept Evo 8-9 are getting more rare here, and have since stabilized in price in the used car market. I've thought of selling mine a few times, but couldn't get myself to do it.
If your evo turns into a pure track car, maybe you can have the C63 tow it to the track.
