This s what I found the article. I think some of you already familiar with this article. This happens not long ago in Canada, Ontario, one of the dealership located at Ottawa. What do you guys think?

Cars get "road tested" all the time at the dealer. I think you can ask to ride along for all road tests, if you have concerns.
The engine can handle anything they throw at it, as long as they remembered to refill the oil ; )

Its just a car and its a car that is meant to be driven. Unless they are doing melts and donuts with it I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Goodness, I have been off the ranch for a minute. I just read through that thread, and reminds me of an epic soap opera. I could see part of Unclebunkie's stance, but I agree more with Benz-O-Rama. The compensation would never had happened without MBWorld and the forensics done. He could have at least said thanks. JMO.

You really wouldn't care if someone did this to your car?
The only person who bounces my car off the rev limiter is me. Period.
Its not about if the car can take it or not. It is about respecting others property.

Idiotic that anyone would think it's ok for someone else to thrash on someones car without their consent. Especially someone you are trusting to take CARE of your car at the dealer. That is why I always note the mileage and ONLY the shop foreman is allowed to drive my car.

I agree it not right. I just think its not worth losing sleep over. Its just a car. It will get old. It will get miles on it. You probably beat it worse than someone else every would.

Oh if you know me I am not that chill. I just pick my battles and giving the dealership the 3rd degree and checking the miles and searching for rubber under my quarters after a service I cant be bothered with.
There are simply way more important things to worry about in a given day. If these guys want to take the chance of getting caught by the police or their managers and losing their job for a little joy ride, that wont hurt my car anyhow, that's cool with me. If I catch them I will get them fired for it. That's for sure. I just wont go out of my way to do it.
I dont just give my keys for joy rides. I give them to someone because its something I need to do to get something done. I need my car serviced. I need to Valet my car to get to dinner. ect.

Just request that you be allowed to ride along with your SA or shop foreman when he does the test drive to verify the problem and determine a possible course of corrective action. That way you can also verify when the problem occurs and that they are driving in such a way to create the conditions that cause the problem to occur from your experience.Originally Posted by crazy1469
