Blank buttons...?

In the center console, right next to my rear window shade button, there are a few blank buttons.

Does anyone know what those would have been used for? Maybe a buttons on a European model? If so...here's a longshot, does anyone have a part number for any of those buttons that might be used there?

I basically need to mount a mute button for my radar detector, but it would be awesome to wire it into an OEM button of some kind...so just sort of thinking out loud here...

I don't have part numbers but the buttons by the Rear Sunshade switch are:

To the right; next switch Parktronic System On/Off -far right Seat heat passenger side,

To the left; next switch Sport driving mode On/Off - far left Seat heat driver side.

dealer should be able to help with part numbers. These are for a 2010.

In your second picture, what's the button with the big red triangle on it?

Looks like a hazard light button, but mine is located higher on my console.

The second pic was posted by another member a while back. The buttons on the left and right and custom buttons.

Im interested in doing something similar as well. I know this post has been dead for a few years, but maybe we can bring it back.

Im wondering if I can pull the console out, take it apart, and retrofit 3 more of the same switches -- in US, the sunshade switch -- by cutting the blanks out, and replacing them with the extra shade switches... and then use them for things like LR or hardwired dash cameras.

I know that the US console may not have the space for 3 switches, but if i were to import the Euro console, i could use the 3 functioning buttons already installed -- even if the features aren't equipped. I don't see a reason why the button wouldn't be eligible to work for something else.

Im going to attempt to pull the unit apart and see what I find... worst case scenario I can just get a new OEM sunshade console off eBay for 50 bucks...

Start a thread and show the progress, this would be interesting to see.

Yes you can remove the center console to reach out to this part. Have to remove the air vent then the radio unit.
It is actually a whole unit that plugs directly to a wiring harness. Unless you open it apart and drill some type of holes I doubt you can add buttons. Not worth it IMO.
