Ran into a 2011 M3 DCT and decided to mess around. We had a small race from a dig up to about 100mph (no traffic) and I beat him by at least 4 car lengths.

I dont know if I'm impressed with my car or disappointed with the M3.... I thought it would put up a better race even in a straight line, especially with that DCT gear box. not bashing the M3, just saying I'm surprised. I guess the M3 will really shine more on the twisties.

Lets just say I'm glad I got the C63 since I have a better interior, my car sounds better and I am quite a bit faster (in the straights at least)

Edit: My car is a stock non P31 2012 Sedan and the M3 was a 2011 DCT coupe

How well do M3 engines respond to mods like headers and tune?
They dont stand a chance with only 400HP.

Anyone raced an M5?

I raced an E60 M5 from a dig up to about 100. I had 2 car lengths on him up to about 75 then the M5 started gaining pretty quick.

Lower HP cars usually do have less TQ too.
Its been established the C63 is a 500HP car thats under rated.

Interesting on the M5.
Was worried about their top end.

I know that the M5 was running a Dinan chip so the top end may not be as good. M5's are supposed to be really quick in the top end though.

You should feel bad for picking on a M3. There's no need to rub it in.

The M3 Dyno's with roughly 330 Hp to the rear wheels. The C63 Dynos with about 420, I believe. The M3 doesn't stand a chance.

The E9X M3's have slight gains with a tune not a dramatic difference like the detuned M156 engines. With a tune and exhuast I would say the S65 V8 gains around +17rwhp.
M3' have a great header design as well, I believe they are mid length headers. Very few people actually go with aftermarket headers on these cars.

Ive never raced an M5 but modded C63's have no problem going heads up with them.
The M5 really shines at triple digit speeds, has alot of top end power.

I used to have an M5, and it is a beast once it reaches 6000+ RPM. However, as it isn't slow on low end torque either, before you reach the fun parts you are in risk of getting a fine. This is what makes the C63 so much more fun.

I don't know about longtubes, but they already have equal-length (IIRC) shorty headers. Still can't believe we still have log manifolds.

Yea, it's like AMG was happy with 500HP and stopped trying.
