Matte Black C63 falls victim to ignorant Malibu.
Driving home the other night someone decided he need to change into my lane sharply and sideswiped me. So far its only cosmetic damage and I have a feeling the vinyl wrap saved the insurance company some paint money.
Has anyone with vehicle signage or a vinyl wrap ever had an accident? Is this aftermarket wrap something they will cover?

What distracted me from raging was likely the fatherly instinct that made me care more about checking to see the damage on the car.

Ouch.... That sucks big time. I am sorry.
Cosmetic damage? You have a big repair bill on your hands there. Hood, Front Fender, Bumper. I cant imagine you are under 10K in repairs unless those pictures are deceiving me......
Your right though, the wrap saved you painting the side of the car but I think you will be hard pressed to get the Wrap covered as it is most likely not part of what your insurance company has you as covered.
Was there a police report?

Police report will help but people always change their story once they talk to their insurance company. Side swipes are hard to prove 100% fault unless the other driver admits 100% fault. Good luck bro. I hope they cover the wrap too.
The worst part about what the insurance wont cover is the Carfax accident record. I hope you plan on keeping it.

Very cool. In NY the police tend to stay impartial and just stick to what happened and write up a report. Unless they saw it or the other party admits fault its written as a no fault and they let the insurance fight it out. Most of the time going to arbitration.
Accidents suck. Do you guys use Carfax there as well?

It sucks to hear in NY u can't count on the police report. In Canada, it's important to do a police report even if u don't plan on claiming the insurance.. This is especially true for hit & run (we have to pay deductible) cuz the person who hit u can do a police report stating u (ur license plate) hit him.. Then u are in big troubles as hit & runs are criminal charges.
We have something like carfax here, it's called 'used car history' guide. As a seller, u must provide this infos to the buyer.

Not so sure about the police report in Canada being the last word. My wife got hit buy a guy when she was pulling out of a parking lot across an unmarked lane and then through a long stationary row of traffic that a considerate motorist left a hole in for her to cross through. The guy pulled to the right of the line of traffic and hit my wife. He tried to blame my wife when the accident was easily avoided if he wasn't so bull headed and just let her through. The police report agreed with him and my wife got a ticket for pulling out into traffic. The guy was really hoping to file for personal damages along with damages to his vehicle. I cannot remember the exact charge.
We went to court with the support of our insurance company and beat the ticket because the lane was not officially marked where the other party pulled into it and he had no right to be in the lane claiming a right of way. The guy's insurance had to pay for the repairs. The look on his face really told the tale of his disappointment and his dashed hopes of suing our asses off. Police reports are just that reports of their findings and the officers interpretation of them and any interpretation by the officer is subject to reversal or modification in a court hearing.
We do have Carfax and CarProof in Canada.

Sorry to hear Mort, I do agree police report are not set in stone.. But u really have to fight it like u did or else the insurance company will just comply with the report.
Back to the OP, I'm pretty sure if u fight hard with ur insurance company, they will pay for ur wrap even though it's aftermarket. Same thing happened to my Lex few years back, and my aftermarket wheel got scratched.. They wanted to pay me a oem wheel, but after some talk, they agreed to pay me a new aftermarket wheel.
