A BMW135i – her only criteria was it had to be small so she could easily park it.
After looking around she decided on a Series 1 so I choose the performance model.

Well I already had bad experience, I've got the nicest girl ever, she never thought about money... for the first 6 months.. then she changed... I changed her... and now I regret it.. Maybe if one day I'm gonna be really wealthy I wouldn't care.. but for now.. I'd rather keep my money in my bank account.. Girls don't deserve it lol

My wife drives a 2007 BMW X-5 3.0 si. When shopping for her car in 2007, we looked at Lexus RX-350 (too soft and common), merc ML 350 (luxurious, softer than X5), Porsche Cayenne 6 cylinder(cayenne was due for rebody and was very poor with luxury ammenities-and each upgrade is an expensive option that adds up- at that time Porsche did not even have bluetooth-when I mentioned this to dealer they just said,"Porsche is a performance car and doesn't need blue tooth"-give me a break. New X5 bangle body was brand new, The X5 offered the best balance of sport, luxury, and practicality. I spec'd the car with full Napa Tobacco leather, sport package, and dynamic drive. Although underpowered and with a high center of gravity, the car (truck)handles fabulously in turns. They still have not completely rebodied the X5, so a 2007 still looks current. She loves her X5 with two Recaro kid seats. However, she loves to drive the C63 and F355 even more.

eclectic assortment of cars
2006 Land Rover LR3 V8 HSE for my wife. Lots of room for...just about everything, although I have been banned from carrying spare engines in the back of it. 
We have a 'monster' of our own on the way (our first!) so the LR3 was purchased with the family expansion in mind, and it will be put to good use very soon! Maybe one day we'll upgrade to a full size Range Rover, but the LR3 is just massive inside, lots of room for everything. We have the 7 seater too, very useful!

Although an "ex" at this point, she still drive the Pontiac Bonneville SSEi with a modded engine that lets her do 0-60 in about 6 seconds. It was a strong engine right off the lot.

We are looking at getting her a new car and looking at the X5 and the Porsche Cayenne S.

I highly recommend the 2012 C63 AMG Black Series for the Mrs! Although I'm not married, I might be able to offer a ladies perspective to the thread.... Make the lady happy - buy a small tank... it's the "safety car of the year"... and let's not fail to mention the high strength front and rear crumple zones... yeah - totally worth it! Every airbag possible in a 360 radius to protect your princess!
I'd say, go ahead... Just do it! Nothing says "I love you" like a diamond white C63 AMG... and best of all it's pretty and sparkly! lol Every girl loves a diamond... especially a diamond the size of a car!

Recently bought my wife a magnetite black C250 4matic sedan. She loves it 
We live downtown so parking space is not exactly vast. Therefore two C's in the household is perfect. I have the estate 63 for dog transport and she's happy with her sedan.

My wife loves her '07 MDX, comfy & full of gadgets, lol. We were looking at the new ML but she still prefers the interior of the MDX, it is very comfy & nice to drive, it's funny how many people overlook it
