M156 head bolt problems
#301
The car has 49K miles on it and will have CPO for another year over that.
Yamdan I drove a 2011 M3 6MT back to back with an 09 AMG without Performance package or LSD and they arent even in the same ballpark. Was so disappointed coming from the car I am trading in (a COBB Stage 2+ Tuned 2008 BMW 135i FBO car with a killer suspension setup).
Thanks everyone for the quick replies, talked to the dealership last night and the parts come in Monday or Tuesday and should be able to pick up the car a week from today!

But my main concern is this bolt issue...
The straitline performace is way better in the C63 but the gearbox in manual is horrible compared to the M3´s DTC.. :-)
I will drive and be happy. If it happens I will deal with it then...

I had the M3 2009 with Evolve stage 2 before this C63 2009 I have now and overall I do love the C63 even if its has its flaws as well...

I can see you being worried, I broke the car on a test drive and am not easy on cars. I buy them to truly drive them and will have some fun for sure over the next year while its on CPO. This car will see some track before I've had it a month so I'll post my thoughts on the car with some real seat time. Once CPO is up it will get a stage 2 or 3 Weistec setup and cant wait to experience what some of the others are doing one here.
So far good to hear no one has had any issues after they fix the head bolt issue. The dealer I went to said this was not the first one but they were impressed I did my research and knew the issue before they did. Lets hope this is the only major issue I have.
Is this the only good MB forum? I am used to BimmerPost/1Addicts which does a great job of separating the forums between selling stuff, cosmetics, track, tunes, etc... I went with this one since it looks professional.

Took my car in for for smoke, rough idle, handbrake loose and a broken side panel tab.Got a call from dealer saying that the head might be leaking coolant and oil and they will tear it apart and replace all the headbolts with new update ones)
Such a happy camper)

OK girls and boys. Picked up the C63 this afternoon. Dealer did $5-6K worth of parts and took them about 2 days to fix. I've got the list of what was replaced and may post at some point. Don't want to hijack this thread I'll post another thread with pictures and plans. Car is running fantastic though and finally got a chance to open up the car and turn ESP completely off. Let the AMG fun begin...

Glad MBZ got this all done for you and 2 days is really fast. I'd give it about a 1,000 miles to get the new lifters (part of the head bolt repair) to set properly before you really push it. My new ones were a bit loud for the first 300 miles then settled in perfect.

$5k including parts and labor? I remember reading somewhere that's roughly the price including install for the weistec head bolts? correct me if i'm wrong. I was thinking about getting it done kind of preemptively but if it's gonna be the same price to fix it later (or $0 if nothing happens) i might as well wait? thoughts?
my car has 70k miles on it, i have extended warranty until 110k miles but through a 3rd party (fidelity). Anyone hear of 3rd party warranties footing the bill for this? Been skipping through and so far I've only seen MB warranty.

I know I've said this on here before, but I've looked up hundreds of used 2010 models, and every single one had the old headbolts. I haven't run the VIN of every 2010 in existence, but I haven't seen a "non affected" 2010 yet.

I have a question about E63 headbolts and didn't really find anything there. My friend wants to know if the 2010 E63 has the same headbolt issue as the C63's do.
Help is much appreciated gents

I would venture to say yes because it also affected C63 production up to 2010.5.
