I need some ENTHUSIASTS opinion.
If you just recently landed a job for a dealership(BMW in this case) and had a '13 C63 coupe on order in Diamond Grey(I think that's what it's called) with almost all the goodies but could get an M3 for cheaper with an employee discount(because of your new job) which would you choose? Your heart is set on a C63 and it's your dream car, but the M3 will be much cheaper and have a shorter lease period so you get a new car, sooner(27 months vs 36 months). I ask this here because this place is a true enthusiasts are at. I've asked some specific people, but I wanted to open this up.
P.S. You've test driven both vehicles and your heart is still with the AMG. Would you pick up your dream car or save the money and go the other way?

I'd say go with the M3 and save the money. It's a great car!!!
Plus it'll look better to your new bosses that you are supporting their products/brand/company.

Very interesting paradox.
My gut says, f* it and keep the C63. My brain says, how would it look for you to own a top-end MB while working at a BMW dealership? Would it be your DD? Practically speaking, the lower price tag and better lease periods are attractive. Is it enough to sway your heart?

my wife bananas! :D
Go with the BMW. Companies like MB or BMW is a culture. If you work for one of these companies, you have to help portray that image to the customers. I've always said to my employees, they are the ambassadors for the company... and especially for the auto industry, what employees drive do make a difference.
this is of course, you plan on making a career out of working at bmw

The difference will be roughly $200 a month give or take. Very true, I won't be tied down. This includes a BMW loyalty bonus(Both mother and sister have BMW's)

Yes, which is why I'm torn. I wish I was able to order a GTS, I'd order a BS for the price! It seems like the general consensus is that the BMW is the way to go because I'll be representing a brand, which makes sense. It also won't look good in front of the general manager when his employee drives in with one of their main competitors high end performance cars..

not just your new boss but also the visitors (potential customers) would question and raise an eye brow
"how come you've not kept something you are recommending to us"

I'm gonna have to go against the grain on this one. My opinion is that you should never sacrifice what you truly want over price. I can understand if your financial situation suddenly changed (for the worse) and circumstances dictate that you make such a choice (ie. say, going from a C63 to something pedestrian, like a Camry).
In the end, I think you'll definitely regret it seeing that the C63 is your dream car.

You clearly stated your decision, by saying that even after driving both cars, your heart is still set on the AMG. I personally feel that the real question here is, "Is my new employer's perception of me more important than driving what makes me happy?". If this new job is just a step towards a long term career goal, then we can mostly agree that there are more opportunities out there other than one BMW dealership. If your boss really wanted to see you driving an M3, they can buy you one. Unless my boss is paying my car note, I'm driving what I want, not what would impress them. I don't know how much of a difference $200 will impact you on a monthly basis, but if my heart was set on a C63, and I could afford a C63, then I most definitely will be driving said C63

what we always say in our dealership: A good deal on the wrong car is still a bad deal!! think about it, if you have the M3 you will always want to get the AMG... screw money, its only money.... Do the right thing

Working at BMW does not mean you have to drive a BMW. Just make sure you get to work on time and do a good job.
Your comment about not enjoying having to make decisions is a bit worrying though. Good luck with the new job.

^^ well said! The M3 is a great car... so having it for 2 years is a good compromise. The new 5.5L turbo C63 should be out by then, so you can make decision on a new C63 or pre-owned 6.2L .
