The Audi R8 is all sound, sounds amazing but has no glory, it wont beat a C63 in any sort of drag race, from a stop or on a roll. The V10 however is a different story.

WOOO great crowd!!!!
+1, V8 R8 is all show and not much go. Best thing Audi did for the R8 was bring out the V10 model.

The handling, presence and beauty of an R8 far outweigh the power issue of the V8. A V8 car is approximately the same as an E92 M3 in power/acceleration but is a much better handling/track car. Although a C63 might be faster in a straight line I would not consider it to be the better performer overall. As a dragster, yes... all around, no. The V10 will wipe an M3 or C63 (without serious mods) almost anywhere... track or highway.
Anyone who says a R8 doesn't make you look and drool is either insane or lying

I am in love with the C63 too but the R8 is simply exotic looking IMO. One of the most beautiful cars on the road. The C63 is a very nice looking car but I would bet very few would consider it in the same league as the R8 from a looks perspective or consider it anywhere near as exotic. That is also one reason I wouldn't buy an R8... it would get too much attention. The C63 flies under the radar and most people would only know it to be a Mercedes. I couldn't park an R8 at the office without drawing a lot of attention. I personally don't buy cars for the attention they bring and like that the C63 is beautiful but not so unique or exotic that it draws unwanted attention.

An R8 beaten by a C63?
So what? They get beaten by wagons

Not a Vista Cruiser, but still a wagon.

Ever since we had that 'what's next after the C63' thread I've been thinking hard about an R8 V10. I wouldn't do a V8. I sold my M3 because it was slow until you were driving 7/10 or better.
I'll have a decision to make in 1.5 years.. if I could find a creampuff 2010 with a stick for close to 100k I'd be mighty tempted.
Living in Calgary the AWD would mean I could drive an R8 for more of the year than my C63. With some high performance all seasons I could run it in all but the coldest weather provided the snow wasn't too bad.
Problem is every time I drive my C I adore it and I am having a hard time finding things I don't like about it other than I get waves from 70 year old grannys coming the other way in C300s...
I worry I'd miss the 444 ft/lbs and that great sound around town.

C63 AMG Coupe
The worst part of the r8 v8 is the lack of torque. The 4.2 Audi engine is a nightmare to work on, too. After I built my 4 liter GT3 engine, I realized it's all about the torque for a street car...
I do like the v10 audighini.

not a fan of R8s either. I think the looks are trying too hard (too futuristic)....just doesnt work for me.
