Personally, I'd rather have my car built by a robot than a human. Less likely to make a mistake. But if I want to drive an AMG, obviously I have no choice.

Coming from an owner of several Audis and Mercedes, Audis fall apart! Dont get me wrong, theyre excellent drivers cars and the interiors are beautiful but just NEVER own one out of warranty (or past 60,000 miles for fear of extreme interior rattles). That being said, Im sure it will be equally as good as my 2007 RS4 but I would still take a C63 for the brute rawness and the substantially better reliability. Im not too fond of the 2009+ styling of Audis. I much prefer my B7 RS4 to the B8 RS4 both styling and performance wise

There was one at the irvine cars and coffee last weekend and I gotta say that both the interior and the exterior was simply stunning to look at. It's got the style and 4 wheel drive for those who want to get off the line fast without destroying the tires. You've also got the option for carbon ceramic brakes and it's pretty exclusive so far in the US.

I had a s5 before my c63 (you might of seen it in Bulimba, white on 20in black wheels with the plates EI1). The best change I ever did was from the s5 to the c63. I hated the driving position and feed back from the steering. The rs though I don't know.

yeah i had my eye on an s5 too since i lived in an area with snow..at the end i didnt check it out because I prefer Benzes over audis and it had too little power for me. anyways my friend did get one and i tried it and it was not even close to the level of my c63. the steering, seating, and gearbox and no where near as good.

rs5 would probably be better, but i dont know how much better. the one thing I dont like about the rs5 (from what I've read) is that it is getting electric power steering which sucks on any car i've driven.

audis do tend to have more gadgets and electronics in the car though, which is cool for people who are into those kind of things. I prefer simple so i dont really care about those gadgets.

Think I have seen your old S5, sounds really nice and looks tuff.
Just test drove the latest model RS5, very nice, no where near the torque of C63 but the build quality is outstanding and it goes very well, revs to over 8000 rpm. The ride is extremely harsh but I would put coil overs in to lower it and reduce the harshness.
Seriously considering trading my C63 for one. Has to be the one of the best looking cars on the road. Would like to get the RS bucket seats as the standard seats are no where near as good as the C63 seats.

Build quality?? Give it a year and you will hear all the rattles. Don't be fooled. If you decide to trade the c63, sell me your wheels hehe

Just trying to work out a deal and waiting on reply from stealer, if I go ahead with it they want my car without the wheels and coilovers so I will contact you if I go ahead as I will have HRE 20" wheels with 4 very good tyres plus a brand new extra set of Pirelli's for the rear, plus H&r coilovers, I'll let you know what I decide.
How's was you trip?

I ordered a 2008 RS4 new. Peeled the plastic off that car and from start to finish it was a great ownership experience. No maintenance or warranty issues. And has been said, just because you cant smoke the back tires, doesnt mean the experience cant be fun. That car was a true 6-spd manual, so it was a very engaging experience. The RS5 motor has been updated slightly, but it is pretty much the RS4 motor.

Very different cars. The key issue here is TORQUE. The NA 4.2 Audi motor is a high revving experience like the M3. That means around town, not as much seat of pants feel and instant grunt. For some, a more engaging experience though. The DSG box (I drove it in the S4) is amazing. So here is my view:

Engine: C63 muscle car, push pedal and go. RS5 high revving, more "motorsport", weak on torque.
Transmission: RS5 wins here, even though the C63 tranny is a very very good automatic.
Interior: RS5 wins here, Audi has always had the best interiors
Handling: if you want superman like grip and security in going fast, RS5. If you want hooligan driving experience (probably more fun), C63
Exclusivity: Unless BS, RS5 wins here compared to C63

For me to be honest, the key thing the C63 has going for it against the RS5 is the motor. Spectacular. And the reason I am looking for a C63 vs. an RS5. No substitution for torque. The RS5 should have used a supped up version of the new Audi turbocharged V8 that the S6 is getting. Instead, I think it will be a bit anemic. Also, if it had 4 doors, would be considering it more. Cant say enough about that RS4. It was a spectacular package. In fact, its probably a bit dangerous with the quattro because there was the tendency to go even faster given grip in all conditions.

I can agree with Audis having horrible build quality! My mom has an 08 TTS and is selling it (she just bought Evoque..complains about the peppiness but still loves it lol). That car has been nothing but trouble. It burns lots of oil, rattles like many of you have said... among other things the paint is garbage. The car even had the upgraded sound package.... it was horrible in 2 years! The onlything I liked about that car was the transmission! Even Audi service was a pain in the butt to deal with!

Funny.... from someone that owned an 03 RS6, 08 RS4, and 2010 A4 SLine, I never had a single problem with any of those cars! I guess I got lucky. Also, frankly in the public domain I have heard about warranty issues with Mercedes and build quality. As someone shopping for my first MB, its great to hear that maybe there is more hype than reality to that.

my parents own a 2010 Q5 and after two years and 38k miles of ownership it is rock solid..no rattles, no peeling plastic, no loose panels..dash, console and seats are identical to the A5.

we also had a B7 A4 and it treated us fairly well..personally i think this whole VW/Audi reliability issue is a thing of the past..

buttt, get the 63 unless AWD is a must

I think the RS5 has fantastic build quality and will retain it's value very well. I love my RS4 and it has been extremely solid and trouble free for 60K miles.

My brother just sent me a picture of his new RS5 that just arrived at the dealer this morning. I wish it was mine.

Yeah, needs to lose the front plate.

I like it, just the old head lights were nicer IMO. Too me Audis will always be very feminine... even with a NA V8 haha. Not that youll compain with many girls staring at the car saying "OMG I want that!!!" I thought the RS5 front end was different... chrome along the full bottom???

Yeah I have a B7 RS4 and a Q5 2.0T and both have been nothing but problems. My RS4 was at Audi 5 times in the last month with more issues than I can list! My Merc's have been fairly bullet proof (with the exception of the CL600)

Not sure you will see many women driving a stick RS4... might see more driving an automatic C63 AMG coupe actually

Different story with the RS5 I suppose...but that gearbox is so sweet....just pop pop pop through the gears

the RS5 should be pretty quick, spoke to a guy from audi and he claimed he had beaten a C63 easily with an Audi S4 which is slower than the Rs4. but i don't know about that story
