dont' get me wrong. it's not a deal breaker or anything like that; this is the best car I've owned and it's an absolute blast to drive but this is also the first car i've owned didn't have a manual gearbox.

if AMG could make it an option I think their sales would go through the roof. but still an amazing machine!

On the contrary, the sale wouldn't go through the roof and will actually cost MB more. It definitely wouldn't be an option since the market for it is now actually so small it makes to sense for them cater to a small fraction. As long as they go for DCT, I'll be happy.

Won't happen. Look at Porsche, they sale more cars with the PDK than the 6 speed.

i just think they should make it an option - at least one that can be ordered as such.

Highly doubt this. Don't get me wrong, my two previous cars were manuals but there's a reason why more & more manufacturers are stepping away from them.

I'm perfectly happy with offering from AMG. Only time I'd consider a manual gearbox would be a Porsche GT3. Manual transmissions are becoming like automatic swiss movements in wrist watches. They are for more for purist and enthusiasts, not as convenient or quicker to shift compared to modern performance automatic gearboxes. Guys that "get it" in that sense are becoming fewer and fewer compared to previous generations.

I would love a manual but I would settle for Manual mode actually being REALLY manual shifters...

I would - But I shudder to think of replacing the clutch every year or so given the fun you could have off the line with an engine that is clearly up to the task.

An automatic takes the guess work out of things (although the down shifts to feed the "maunal addiction" are pretty damn good).

I have seen many a manual car leave too much on the table from a dig. You cant compete with an auto (at least at my level of experience, YMMV).

Auto for me....love the transmission in our 12 C63.
I was a "manual" guy for years with my "toys", because there was always talk, (& it was true), that you lose too much power via the auto, shifting is too slow etc etc.
But with modern "automatic" transmissions that's all changed, liitle if any power loss over a manual, & shifting times quicker than a manual in many cases.
Of course, in certain situations, track etc, I guess a manual may have the edge, but for all practical driving situations, from now on, it'll always be an auto for me.
Cheers, Pickles.

What is the definition of a real manual mode shifter? Do you mean one that is faster?
