Tire grease/oil on leather

Tire grease/oil on leather
While trying to fit two 285 tires into my car to get mounted, I managed to get a little tire grease/oil on my ash gray leather. Is it possible to get it out? If so, how?

You can buy clear shoe polish and keep massaging it out...will work. Mind you I said clear polish...they sell it in a stick like KIWI brand...

I just found out that all O'Reilly shops should have it, so I'm going to pick it up today. If that doesn't work, I'll try that clear shoe polish.

Hope it works, it has taken some bleeding form jeans out of lighter color leather.

I use it about 2x a year to clean and treat my leather, the reason I like the product is it doesn't leave a shiny residue that others do. Its kinda a pain to apply and clean.

No dice on either option. The stain is still there, although it might be slightly lighter...can't tell. Any other ideas?

The problem is that for a grease stain you need to try to draw it out of the leather first. I do the following for say, grease and soup stains on leather jackets before applying any other leather-specific cleaners. Say you have a quarter-sized stain. Cover it with a half-teaspoon or more of talcum powder. Press a square of 2" painter's tape (I'm partial to the green or yellow Frog tape) to cover the powder and leave it for a day.

Good luck...catching it right when it happens is always much better with an oil-based stain, before it fully wicks into the leather fibers.

Sorry to hear... I would probably just find a detailer and see if they can just clean your leather if you didnt want the entire car detailed.
