Almost got my hands on a C63 BS alloc

You will have to ask mbcanada that. They dictate what's allowed to cross the border, and what mods are required to comply to Canadian standards. It's usually on average a $10k process to get the car into compliance.

You're kidding me. This is what I just got...
This, after they confirmed everything would be fine and that the car's mine.
I am sorry for the delay…I have been informed they will not be accepting deposits on the car at this point instead they will be putting names on a list of interested buyers to be contacted once the car is closer to arriving. As I am sure you are aware this will be a very limited amount of cars produced for the 2013 model year.
I would be happy to put your name on the list and keep you informed, as more information is available.

Sry to hear GrnLantern about ur frustrating situation. Dang, it's simply unbelievable to go from having a secured allocation to being put on the waiting list. Just another bad attempt from MB & AMG to make a customer happy.
This would be enough to steer me away from thus car & get a P-car.

Oh well, I just sent them a harsh, but professional, email and CC'd the GM and Client Relations Manager. I doubt I'll be getting their car and this is probably burning bridges with them, but if I got on their waitlist there's no way I'd be able to compete against people willing to massively overpay.

Guess I'm back to my original request... If anyone's aware of any available allocations, or if they know a dealership who's had someone back out of their deal, please PM me.
Much appreciated!

Yes, it can help. I shot a note to Stephen Cannon when another member lost their allocation and they got their car. Corporate definitely cares about these dealer mishaps for the exact reason mentioned above ("oh we'll go get a p car!")

this is exactly the kind of nonsense that keeps me from even wanting a BS--what a joke. Sorry to hear about your situation Lantern.
Go read my latest thread about what replaces my C63--there's a lot of other stuff out there to choose from. Not sayin' there's any slam dunk choice (just look at me trying to decide), but don't get tunnel vision and fall into the dealers trap. Before you know it, they'll have you bent over a desk and you'll feel really dirty
I just can't be bothered to beg someone to take my money for anything--I don't care how rare and awesome it is

Wow, sorry to hear about this mishap. Don't give up. You will find one. I just did a quick search on cars.com and found four. Looks like it's time for a trip over to the east coast! Good luck!

To be honest, for me and several friends that did their homework and put deposits down way in advance, getting this car was easy.

Will send you a PM. I'm worried about outing both dealers in public before I get things resolved.

The problem is that the supply and demand is completely out of whack for this car. Unlike the CLKBS, there aren't enough CBS's to fill demand in North America. For the folks that want allocations this late, dealers are getting maybe's for MY2013 allocations and trying to get your name on there to secure a car if it comes along, so the trick is to get deposits down everywhere and hope one comes through.

As for doing it in advance, I clearly learned my lesson. Unfortunately I didn't think I wanted one until this year.

One of the others on Cars.com has a massive markup if you call them. :/ The other two are spoken for.

Downtown LA Motors just sold their Matte Black one (the buyer was with the Finance Mgr as I was on the phone). Apparently it sat in their showroom for 3 months, then sells the day I inquire.
(Yes, I started considering more colors. Previously I was limited to Obs Black and Diamond White only. I am now considering Matte Black since more seem to have been ordered in that color -- at least, based on what's been sitting around.)

You know the worst part about all of this? I'm tracking a total of nine 599 GTO's on the market right now. Some at actually reasonable prices (based on recent sales, supply/demand, etc).

Final Update from them tonight:
That's just bull****. Will re-escalate to MBUSA in the morning, but I expect this will go nowhere unless MBUSA magically fabricates an allocation for me (at a better and more respectable dealership). Technically MB (while perhaps not MBUSA) has such power. Ferrari does it all the time for some of their clients.
I have spoken with my GM and the dealership’s preference is the car sell to a client in the local market if you insist I can discuss with him on putting your name on the Interested Clients List but once again his preference is the car be sold in the local market at a price to be determined at the time of sale.
