Calling all previous 5 series BMW owners...
I am considering buying/leasing a 550i xdrive and was wondering if anyone else here had experience with them? It's a winter car and I fell in love with one in a showroom.
The 2013 models are showing some much needed love to the iDrive system as well as getting an extra 45 ponies.
I know it's not going to be an AMG and I doubt the exhaust will give me the same satisfaction, but I am more curious about how well they handle in the winter and their overall performance.

I know nothing about the A6, but I went to Audi to see if they had any RS5's and all three they had gotten were sold before they hit the showroom floor.
Is there a specific model year that is better? I know nothing about Audi.

The new iDrive system blows everything and anything in car entertainment device out of the water. I've played with it extensively and the animations, the graphics, the navigation, the feel of the thing makes everything feel aged. I love how everything is black with orange accenting. It's very smooth and everything flows. The exhaust note is also very good, not as good as an AMG, but still good for a road car. The electric steering sucks though.

well, 2012 or 2013 is the model to get for A6. U might get a killer deal on the 2012. Last weekend, i helped a cousin of mine get a 2012 Premium plus A6 for 1k below invoice. The 3.0 super charged engine is quite peppy and churns out 310 hp i believe and 0-60 time of about 5.3 secs. overall better interior than 5 series.
the RS5 is also a kick *** V-8 and although most of them have been sold out, some dealers still have open allocations.

For what it's worth wife had a 2012 550i 6spd manual and it was a slug. It seems to be detuned (tq mgt) in 1st and 2nd...... wonky shifter..... I would avoid this car.
She missed her C63 immediately. GL.

I hear you drift..... tune would help...... just did not connect with the car at all...... it was slow, clunky shifter, plastic feel doors/hood. It did not live up to all the hype my co-workers suggested...... saying we will NEVER drive anything but BMW after owing one....... She does have an X5 5.0I sport now..... but I was not impressed.

Supposedly the M package suspension is really stiff too.
