Forgestar CF10's?? Need help
I got the Forgestar CF10's on my car as some of you have seen from the pics...My question is regarding the hubcentric rings...Anyone else who has these wheels, did yours come with hubcentric rings also??
I have been having problems with shimmy/shakes in my steering wheel since I got them put on...I had them balanced, rebalanced, and then rebalanced again...The last time was done by a performance shop in NY who actually make their own wheels so I think they know a few things here and there about this stuff...they road force balanced the tires/wheels on the inside and out and everything seems to be ok now...tire and wheel spin true and the wheels are not bent...but I still feel some shimmy in the steering wheel but was told it may just be the roads around here...I do have Super Sports so I was told they grip the road and u feel everything with them...
I was told by the owner of the place that if a wheel is made specifically for your car then we should not need hubcentric rings...He got more technical with me and explained things but its all foreign to me but in the big picture it makes sense. It should fit true! This concerns me!
Any help and anyones elses experiences with this would be great...I know there are a bunch of you that got these same wheels/setup for their cars...Would appreciate some feedback
This experience has taken away the pleasure of actually driving the car and enjoying it...I know modding can be a pain since its aftermarket **** but this shouldn't be that hard if these wheels were made for the car
Thanks,
Chris
If it's smaller it won't fit onto your car
If it's slightly bigger then you will get shakes and vibrations at speed.
So if your wheels were balanced properly, straight and true then I have a feeling your hub bore is too large.
Hubrings will fix your issue.
It's strange that your wheels were not the proper fit to begin with.
I would contact who you bought the wheels from and see what they say. Usually a set of four are included in one of the wheel boxes.
If the wheels are made specifically for our cars then u shouldn't need hubrings at all! So this is what I've been told.

I don't think Forgestar makes hubcentric wheels specific to each cars.. Only high end wheels companies do, like my SV1 & HRE.

If they have been re-drilled to for your car, then I hope they told you at first & give you the choice to buy or not.

But in your case, it's not too bad as we know for sure once you have the right rings, your wheels will roll perfectly. I just hope you were aware that your wheels were not built hubcentric.. and it is wrong to say Forgestar are custom built to your car fitment. They only have few sizes with few offset that will fit our cars, you cannot special order the offset to your liking... like HRE does.
Well, at least it's a good compromise since they look good & are inexpensive as you said.
I want to add....
If your wheel shop is so high end, knowledgeable and makes their own wheels they should have a proper hub ring for you... Hell they can machine you one!
If not then you will have to wait for whomever sold you the wheels to send you the proper mounting hardware....
here's another question.....
Are you using ball seat or conical seat wheel lugs? =O)
