2013 Chevy 427 Torch Red
First of all thanks to everyone for the kind wishes regarding our up coming anniversary. I am really blessed to have found someone who shares all of the things in life that I hold as important! (Including loud fast cars)
Regarding the 427. It is in sense a convertible version of the Z06 but with the steel frame for stiffness that is lost when you cut off the roof. It has an LS7 motor and Tremec 6 speed tranny. It also comes standard with the magnetic adjustable suspension which is an option for the Z06. (F55 or Z07) The wheels and tires are the same as the F55 optioned Z06 which is lighter weight cup style (19x10 20x12) with Michilin PS2's. The Z07 has Sport Cups. The weight difference according to Chevy is about 150 pounds versus a standard Z06 without the carbon fiber hood/ roof/ fender package which is all standard on the 427. No roof of course. The interior is much nicer than I expected with leather covering the dash and doors, red stitching throughout and alcantra inserts in the seats. Depreciation affects every car but right now higher end Vettes are being deeply discounted pending the intro of the C7. Mine was nearly $10,000 off MSRP and I didn't really work to get that.
All in all it is a great ride. The last two afternoons have been top down back road storming adventures. The sound of the LS7 heard from an open cabin is absolute music! There were several of us out yesterday including a 13 GTR with GoPro running. If any video comes my way I will share.
Now the main question, Why not the Z06? It's all about purpose, I want a track car for the track rather than subjecting my primary car to the stress and risk of track duty. Choosing the convertible ensures that I don't have future memory lapse
and provides a new driving dimension as well.

Its almost like a built in excuse! It depends on who is running the track event but most tracks wont let you on with a convertible hard top.

I have secured use of the PRS M3 for future events until I find something of my own. That vision is for an E36 chassis with V8 power, wide body wide tire conversion and still way under 3,000 pounds.

That is an accurate statement...... The 427 will not see track duty or there will probably never be a 31st anniversary. ![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)

But something ideal to share with wifey?....What about a road trip along the length of Route 66?.I live in Oz, but that's one of our dreams...cruise Route 66 in a Corvette!
Don't know whether you guys in the States have seen the Scottish Comedian Billy Connolly's TV documentary of him driving Route 66 on a Harley trike....he loved it....met some great people & saw wonderful Country.
Cheers, Pickles.
