Best Options on Blacking out front grille??
Hey Fellas,
Just inquiring from those of you who have blacked out their grilles or painted them or did something else to make it work...Need to know the best option since I haven't found a black grille to replace the stock one...Think it will look so much better since my car is black
I've been told that painting it won't work well because it will chip easily...
Any help and pics of the grille would be appreciated

I have had (3) C300's and (2) C63's. All (5) vehicles had the grille blacked out. The process, paint. I have had (2) coats of matte black paint on each grille. Except for (1) of them, they all held up flawlessly. The (1) that didn't did take a decent rock from an 18 wheeler and only left a small chip. It was very minimal and an easy fix. I am not saying that painting is the surefire way to go. I am just giving you my experience. I think, if done correctly, painting has held up just fine.
I think either way is just as durable. Wrap it or paint. Regardless, the grille will have to be redone, eventually. I have wrapped all the other trim pieces and both applications are pretty equal.
For what it's worth, I am just passing along my personal experience. Also, there is a vendor that sells/ships an already blacked out grille. I cannot remember the vendor, ebay? jlmotoring? or other? I have one in my garage that I'm not using if you are interested. Wrapping and painting both have there plus/minus. I will try to help you further, if you'd like?

+1 for paint .. some of the chrome on my car is painted and the window trim is vinyl. I would've painted the window trim instead of vinyl. Vinyl is nice because its "reversible" but it does lack quality compared to paint.

+1 on VaclavSV's post. The quality and the look on my painted grill is much better than some of the parts that are wrapped. I also believe that you can always do some touch up when you get stone chips.

I'm with Vaclav, jordanaf & N1ck... my grill is painted, and the quality is like OEM. Just bring it to a qualified bodyshop to get it done right.
