C63 Estate in the US

Has anyone ever looked into getting a C63 Estate imported into the US? Maybe through Canada?

There was a C63 estate at Victoria Star in Kitchener Ontario Canada when I was shopping...maybe still there?

On further reflection, I don't think Estates are imported into Canada either. So it would have to be direct from Europe. Although someone said they had seen one In Ontario.

I really wish we weren't such fools in the US when it comes to Wagons.

The E63 Wagon barely sells here, but I'm glad it's around and I hope MB/AMG continues to bring it to us. I really do with the C63 Wagon was imported, though.

From the import side, is it strictly a money issue? I assume emmisions and crash testing are not the problem? Could you simply buy a used one in Europe and ship it to the US?

Hmm, not 100% sure, but I suspect the reason why it's not imported is because they deem it cost prohibitive to meet US DOT requirements (crash testing, etc., since it's not the same car as the Sedan or Coupe); they don't feel sales would be sufficient to recoup their costs. I believe this is the same reason why we don't have a good selection of Diesels as Europe does.

I believe this is the reason why the weight listed on the VIN door sticker of the C63 Black Series matches that of the C63 Coupe, despite being much lighter than the regular Coupe. It's merely an options package, but technically the same car. Unfortunately that won't work for the Wagon.

As for an individual importing it, I think it would be extremely cost prohibitive. Only time I've seen this work is for exotics (such as a Ferrari F50). It'd cost more than simply buying a new US-spec E63+P30 Wagon.

I suspect your right. We do get C wagons here in the states, right? I remember the "old days" when you could import a "grey market" benz that, in some cases, was actually cheaper than the US counterpart.....

I'm afraid, not currently. The only MB Wagons we get are the E's.

I might seem a little crazy but I think the C63 estate is the most badass car in the AMG portfolio. I'm glad others were thinking about importing.

I like the car, but I'm not crazy about it (like I know others are), and I imagine the market in the US just must be perceived to be too small to justify it. Too bad, as I'm all for choice and max selection. Maybe the US perspective will shift over the new couple of years, though? Fashion and taste changes, and it could totally happen. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys...

You can always try a CTS-V Wagon for the US folks.

It's so ugly though and the touch sensitive buttons are brutal. Also, I thought they weren't going to make an estate/wagon version for the new CTS-V?

W204 AMG Estate would definitely be a true exotic here in North America.

I purchased my car from Victoria Star Mercedes and my sales rep did tell me that they brought one in for a long time AMG owner. So yes there is a W204 Estate here in Ontario some where. Its a rarity, I love it so much.

I don't think it's that bad looking. It's not as streamlined as the Mercedes one for sure, but I would rock it.

Even worse I think I read that W205 wagons will be made here for export only.
