C63 - why less hp / torque
Hey all, was just curious why the e63 has over 50hp more than the c63 and more torque? A local guy in Dubai said he could tune my c63 to give me exact specs of the e63. Why does amg not leave the same set up as standard?
Thanks

I guess the M156 tuned to 451hp was good enough to out power the M3 / RS4 (Not out handle though) and we all know how the rear tires are toasted with the de-tuned version.
The fact that BMW/ Audi had ~420 hp probably was enough reason to give it 451 and then gave a fantastic opportunity to milk the cash cow called development package by offering another 30 hp extra.
The market/competition and is always the main factor as regards the final product spec.

It's cheaper to detune an existing power plant than to engineer an entirely new one.
I see this all the time in the GM world with LS engines.

Yes, I'd love to know the actual difference myself, so that I could go to M.B., get the bits, genuine FACTORY bits, that make up the E Series P.P., & fit'em to our C63......but NO-ONE has ever told me what these bits are.
Some say it's in the "tune", & it probably is, but no-one's come up with the factory "settings" for an E Series, as against the C Series. Some say the exhaust manifolds have an influence as well?
Cheers, Pickles.
