2012 C63 AMG apprentice!

Hey guys!

I'm a new member to this forums... Its supper interesting reading abt other C63's owners. I own the 2012 C63 coupe with the performance package!
Unfortunately the local dealership doesn't seem to have much experience with AMG engines and i still have some questions that i dont have answers for so maybe you can help!

1-How can i check the i have the full performance package? The steering wheel is there. Same for the carbon fiber rear wing, but how can i know that the engine has the extra 30hp other than putting it on a dino? My breaks look like the standard AMG breaks and when i drift it around i have the feeling that the differential is not working properly (with obviously the ESP off). It cuts me down and pushes back on the lane. Doesn't the package include upgraded breaks and a sports differential? (i searched for a tag under the hood mentioning the package but couldn't find anything!)

2-When driving it uphill on manual mode and kinda pushing the engine, the oils heats up to 137 and it automatically switches to S mode not allowing me to go back to Manual! Did it happen to any of u guys before? I have to wait till the engine cools down a bit to be able to drive it back in Manual and obviously drive less aggressively! What could be a possible solution to this problem?

3- Does your warranty wear off when you turn on the launch control? Did you try it?

My car is now in at the dealer's for the first service. They are aware of my complaints but for some reason i still have no answers specially for the oil heating problem although they have driven it and witnessed it themselves.

It would be great if you can advise me! Its my first AMG so i'm still an apprentice! Thanks

Wow...Trying not to sound like an A$$ (but probably failing) I just have to say that it is unbelievable that you would go out and buy a performance based car like this and not know a little more about it at time of purchase.
That being said....If your car was ordered with the lim slip differential you have it. It will say on your window sticker. It is not included in the P31 option, but is a seperate option. Yes, upgraded AMG brakes are part of the P31 package (red calipers is the tip off)....Launch control is a built in feature of the car and will not affect your warranty PROVIDED your car is stock when and if you break something.....then it is up to MB if they will or will not cover any break down. The overheating issue is well talked about on this forum and if you do a search you will find a lot of info.

The thing is that i got the car at a good deal from a previous owner who didn't know much abt AMG or P31 package. The car came with no window sticker. My calipers are indeed red but my discs seem to miss the bolts that i saw on a car that has the package.

I think you can tell by looking at the engine. Darker paint on P31 (performance package).

P31 (performance package)

Non P31

Take some pictures and post them in this thread. Include pics of the brake rotors. I'm sure someone will be able to tell you right away if they are the right ones or were just painted.

The P31(2010+) front discs do not look like the 2009 P30 discs which have the bolts that a true 2 piece disc has, there more like, as one member said, 11/2 piece Sounds to me like you do have the P31 performance pkg..

P31 front brakes...

My baby is still at the dealership ... i will post some pics as soon as i get it back!
After reading earlier threads, it seems like no one have found a solution for the overheating! I think the best alternative for now is to install an upgraded oil coolant! Any suggestions for that? As for the LSD, I believe my car was ordered without it since in its now an extra option for the P31. Did any one try the quaife differential?
Thanks guys for the tips!

I ordered a new differential... Its suppose to arrive b4 xmas... 😀 as for the oil overheating... The dealership upgraded the air intakes and fan... But now it takes around 10 min to reach 80 degrees and drive the car properly.... They have also updated the software and now i can even drive on manual even if the oil engine reaches 140 degrees.... Not sure though it would b a good idea to allow the oil engine temperature to reach that high
