just put an x and straight pipe
Im honestly dissapointed in how it sounds, no amg bark. Sounded better with res delete+straight pipes. The guy told me the sound will change after i drive a couple hundred miles but i doubt it. How come so many members encourage this setup? Butt dyno says its pulling faster though.

it's been said many times. I did the same thing 2 years ago....xpipe with straights if your deleting 2ndary cats and resonators...otherwise just straight pipe resonators or 2ndary cats or just get LTs with Xpipe and dont bother wasting your time with any cutting and re-welding bs

I think the cat delete with an X pipe and Res delete has A LOT of bark...
Here's my cold start.

I recently put on my mhp headers with straights and an x pipe and it was WAAYYY to loud and raspy, like someone had said on here before it was the LOUDEST car i have ever heard!!
I was kind of embarassed to drive it haha, it was way to raw sounding almost a bit greasy IMO
I got the secondary cats put back in and now it sounds great!! Took out the raspyness and really high pitch at the top end and still kept the insanity without the rapping when you floor it.
It definitly sounds much angrier now and i think it has to do with that x pipe. Either way now happy with it!!

If you don't care for performance, then just go for Straight pipe for both res & 2nd cat. Another member told me its scary loud but i think car will lose 5 hp instead of gain because no passage to balance both banks?

My car is an 11C63 with PP,KN filters,CD,straight pipe for sec.cats and resonator, the car sounds great, one of the tuners in this forum told me that if you don't put LDH that will be the way to go,now im confused cause everybody in the forum says to go with x-pipe for sec.cat and straight pipe for resonator, the car feels really fast but now I'm thinking if I'm hurting performance cause of this set-up that I have,so I was planning on going this Monday to my friend that has a muffler shop and install an x-pipe made by magnaflow.now some of you are saying h-pipe,I really don't know what to do or think anymore, please help me with all of your expert opinions,I also bought two weeks ago an 11 M3 with Dct,I went to delete the sec.cats and the resonators to put the magnaflow x-pipe and to my surprise the stock exhaust on the M3 comes with an x-pipe,so I went with straight pipe for sec.cats and resonator, the car sounds even better now,any input on my C63 please?

- x pipe best because both exhaust cross over each other smoothly in X shape (Loses AMG bark, because the effect of crossing each other makes higher pitch exhaust note)
-H pipe not as smooth as X pipe because the flow must make a 90 degree turn to get to each other (Retains AMG bark, because most of the flow continues to flow straight out)
-Straight pipe is probably the loudest and barks like a real angry AMG, but probably not as good for the car since both banks don't connect
I have personally tried going straight first; my car didn't feel slower or maybe it was way too little notice
Now I have xpipe/straight; my car definitely feels a lot smoother in acceleration. Hence, making me feel like it's gotten a bit faster.

I too got an xpipe to replace my 2nd cats but wasn't a fan of the new sound. Sold it not long after.. I wanna do straight pipe at the resonator and I understand there's actually a loss of power vs gain w/ the xpipe.. Any idea how much? Anything noticable?
also, might be a dumb question but do i need to order the pipe? or do shops typically just use whatever scrap pipes they have? assuming they don't get it at home depot lol

Nothing special about straight pipes. Shops have plenty of these. As for any power loss, I doubt you'll notice it.

How about sec.cat delete with straight pipes and h-pipe for resonators,my muffler shop could make me one,I think that will be the way to go since basically the stock resonators function like an h-pipe but are heavy and take some of the sound off, that's how the engineers design our exhaust system, what do you guys think?
